Same here. I've never had much luck using one finger either--and I wear an XL sized glove too. I think most folks new to the CBBL or BBL tend to confuse its action with that of the BM Axis lock. Although they are similar, the CBBL/BBL were designed for two finger release like Sal stated.gbelleh wrote:Yeah, all my Manix 2s are pretty stiff to unlock. I can't really close them with one finger.
Just got my Manix 2 S110V but not happy.

I'm not sure if it was just this knife. I didn't mind the having to use 2 fingers, but found the hard pull just too uncomfortable. The irony is that Manix 2 is a lightweight EDC, but requires a heavy pull to close it. I've decided to go with a Paramilitary 2 S110V knife instead. I already have a black PM2 with black blade that I love. So I'm hoping to love this new one as least as much. I just got the new 2016 Spyderco catalog and noticed that the PM2 S110V isn't in catalog. Has Spyderco decided to stop making it or was this just an oversight?

I see the PM2 on page 23, but I don't see the S110V steel model. Is it being discontinued?

I have the g10 version and 2 LW, they were all indeed very stiff at first. They all have eased up a lot with a few days each of open-close cycles and sore thumb lol, all day long. I like the idea of adding "traction" to top back half of handle as mentioned as it would have made the break in a lot easier. None really need it now, I can flick them open and closed almost as easy as some of my Axis lock knives they improved that much. Which is why I bought a second LW. By the way, leaving a spring collapsed will not help(as long as it's a good metal and tempered properly)(might if left for many months or years), what eases or lighten a springs tension is repeated compressing and relaxing cycles( also what wears a spring) I raced R/C for 20 years and we used springs a lot and always cycled the springs to "loosen or realax the tension" this helped with consistency after the "break in" was done. This concept on springs has worked well for me anyways.

I have a bunch of Manix 2's. They're not easy to unlock. They're definitely easier with the cage than an uncaged ball bearing lock.
I can say that if you want easy to unlock, the Manix 2 might not be the best knife for you. I think the more trouble you have unlocking a knife will mean that the knife is safer.
I also think that if you need a knife that you will need to open and close 100 times in one day, then maybe the Para 2 would be a good knife. I would say that the Manix 2 would be good if you think you'll open a knife, then use it for 10 minutes, then close it.

I have both lightweight versions, the BD1 is a bit tighter than the 110V but neither are a problem to use.

Wow, I just realized that they send me a 2015 Product Guide (I guess they were unloading the old stock). I can now see the PM2 V110S in the new catalog. Sorry about that. You're right.
