I am a HUGE Ballistol fan. I spray that stuff on everything.

Whoa. Interesting. Thanks, sounds like i'm gonna try loctite.
Now, to decide the exact balance between stiffness and blade play...hmmmmmm

UPDATE:

So..I locktited the pivot screw. In the process, I found out that the D-shaped female pivot pin (or "D Pin" as Spyderco Customer service calls them) moves slightly within it's milled liner hole. It rotates a tad because the pin is slightly smaller than the hole in the liner that it passes through. When you open and close the blade, you can watch the screw rotate slightly with the blade. Isn't a problem...if the screw stays screwed in and moves WITH the pivot pin. Mine wasn't...so I locktited it.

The lock bar screw was doing the same thing; rotating one way with its D-pin, then not back the other way, causing it to loosen when the lock bar was pushed a few times. So I locktited the lock bar pivot screw also.

Now I feel like it's probably fixed, although not 100% confident in it. I've marked the screws and scales with sharpie to see if they unscrew at all. I find myself checking it multiple times a day...which eats into the fun of owning and using a knife big time...

You seriously shouldn't have to go thru through this bullsh*t with a new knife and to be honest, I'm disappointed that no one from Spyderco contacted you to send it in for a replacement.
