Benchmade does this,
this is not an ad, as I don't own one, and don't care to,
but you can build 4 different knives in 4 different blade steels, six different blade styles, designs on the blades and a variety of color choices for the handles
Build it online and have it delivered in 10 business days
pretty wild
just thought I'd share

Used the build a knife function on the BM site. A S30V bladed Grip is $150 + $15 shipping(really?) and $13.20 for taxes for a grand total of $178.20. No way would I pay that for a S30V Grip. Pretty much a major fail to me.

I will await the coming S110V/blurple Millie and Manix. Better steel and G10 is way better than the plastic feeling Grip handles. IMO the Millie and Manix are all around better knives plus the S110V versions might come in cheaper than the Grip.

Spyderco is a relatively small company and I've read before that they want to keep it that way. I'm quite happy with the way they do things.

Um...

Haven't there been like a dozen PM2 sprints and exclusives? Heck, even the Dragonfly is available in two grinds of VG10, one of ZDP-189, two grinds of H1, and a few sprints and "fancy" ones.

Spyderco has variety in spades. So much in fact that each year about a dozen models are discontinued which makes one wonder how many SKU's they are running at once. No you can't pick the color of scales for most knives or have a custom logo etched on the blade but there are many modders who would die for an email and commission.
