SS Police

Hi guys, I'm looking at a possible swap for a certian SS Police and was wondering how rare a combo edged version was in VG-10?

I know I've never seen 1 before, if so is this model flat ground like the later model G-10 specimen?

I just can't seem to resist the looks of the Police and the Rookie <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s.

As much as I love my 3 Millies the Police has my heart. thanks, Ron

Hi sc-rebel1957 - Don't worry too much about the steel that has been used by Spyderco over the years. I my opinion ANY Police model is disirable. Even more so the older models and the G-10. Today VG-10 is very poular but 10 years ago it was ATS 34 which was the steel of choice of the custom makers at the time. Before that it was G-2 (later Gin-1) and no one except Sal and the mill knew what it was and no one cared about it. It is Spyderco's choice to be in the top end of the market and they only use the best steels available. So what ever you buy, you buy top notch quality.
I carry a C07 Ti a serrated ATS-34 Police for over 12 years now. I use it all the time for my sharpening demo's and it holds up fantasticly to this abuse. Yes, the serrations are getting smaller due to the constand sharpening. But theiy are still serrations and the knife still cuts like a dream.

Clipits work!

Hi Ron
Can't say how rare they are but I have one. The blade is hollow ground and as sharp as any knife I've ever had. I'm not normally a huge fan of part serrated blades but on the Police model you've got enough blade to have a useful length of both types of edge. I like mine very much - like you I love the looks of the Police.

Ron, I think the combo edge only recently became available, but they're out there in VG-10 with a hollow grind.

I did a quick google search on "Spyderco Police combo edge" and found several dealers that have them (or at least list them.)

The CE is a current model. I think it came out in '03,so it's not as prevalent as the PE/SE's,but I wouldn't call it rare.
