Hey, if I make it there, I'll be sure to be thinking of my friends on here that couldn't make it!

I mean, as long as I can be outta there and back on the road by early afternoon, I should be golden (pun intended). Is that a reasonable expectation? How crazy is this thing? Assume I won't be there till late Friday or the wee hours of Saturday morning, so not the first one in the door by any means. How long does it take to get through the madness?

Thank you :spyder: !

I went last year and had a great time chatting with my neighbors in line.

Was wondering if y'all bring lawn chairs, or just line up like march of the Penguins. Lol... That 0 degree sleeping bag sounded like a good idea also....I don't know what kind of cold to expect, looking forward to it though.

It was in the low 30s last year but it was super windy. I had a few beers and brought my -15 bag so I slept like a baby. :) If you are gonna be sleeping outside plan on cold.

Looking forward to seeing everybody again, last year was a blast!

Haha, thanks! While I grew up in the Pacific Northwest where we had cold, snowy winters, the last 7 years I've lived in Arizona and Southern Cali, so I suffered a bit during that cold overnight! I'll let you know if I can make it. :)

I hear ya, 25 yrs in nor cal pretty much wiped out my 30 years of Preparation in Wisconsin...but if I remember correctly 30 degrees in the fall felt like 0... 30 degrees in the spring felt like 60....I think this is definitely going to be the former..better too much, than not enough.....layers..

So, those of you fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the fellowship of a 2nd's sale in the past, I have a couple of questions:

1. Are most of the 2nds Golden models, or are there a lot of Seki, Taichung, etc. also?

2. Are there usually kitchen knives available?

thanks in advance!

1) There were knives from all makers but more from Golden it seemed. There were a ton of Sage4s with cracked wood but not many Taichung folders overall. I did grab a Southard. There were tons of Para2s, Militaries and Natives. Most of the knives are seconds that didn't pass QC but a few are returns and those were my best deals.

2) I didn't look at the fixed blades really. There were a ton of Pukkos. The newest Kitchen knives were still just being released around then if I remember correctly.

This was my haul last year and it is a good sampling from Spydercos makers. No Italian knives though. I should have bought as many 204p Para2s and S110V Native5s as I could carry. I have learned a little from last years sale and should be poised to kill it this year.

What I didn't expect was the truckload of sharpening stones for dirt cheap. Many were warped but it was easy to sort through them and find good ones. I should have bought way more and won't make that mistake again this year. A few people I know are getting a full set for Christmas this year. :D

I probably paid around $30 bucks for all this.

It all depends on what you are looking for. If you just wanna sort thru normal production knives then in the morning is fine. But at 7:30 you will probably have a few hours to wait. It's still fun though!

Looking to pick up an s110v manix, probably another pm2 and maybe a military. We'll see what else I find though Would love a sage 1 but it sounds like it's mostly golden models. So do they let certain amounts in at a time? Is there time to sort through and look over stuff or is it more grab what you can?

The let 50 in at a time. And it's a 1 in 1 out kinda thing to filter everyone else in.

The knives are all randomly put into boxes that are displayed on tables. Everyone grabs knives and inspects them and either put them in their basket or back in the box. New knives are rotated in ever once in a while. I know that they bring them out in waves. So even if you aren't first in, they might bring new ones out while you are there.

It's a rush haha
