KOT : Microtech Amphibian
I'm getting this one next month ( May )
from www.PVK.com for $159U.S. in CE & stonewash ; I have their Kestral CE black
version ( both m/a ) and like the overall quality ( kinda reminiscent of <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s for
thier wicked apprearance <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) The packageing seems to make alot of difference ; although they lack that keen <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>edge I've grown accoustomed to ( along with the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>edge )
Other than the auto versions, whta's the
opinion(s) of those here regards the MT?
What say the augurers?

That sheath they supply'em with is an innovation, though! Are they worth the price of comparable Spydies? **** NO!!!

I have a Mini-Socom for 10 years, and within the last year picked up a used LCC PE and a Amphibian CE with green handle. I would rather the PE Amphibian but picked up this one because I wanted green handles more and didn't want to pass up the deal.
I find the fit and finish of Microtech exceptional. I have to admit that other than the Mini, the other two haven't received much use. The Mini used to be carried as a backup in my left uniform shirt pocket. The pocket flap made the little knife look like a pen clip. The edge held up well and had no problems.
I wish I could afford others and would really like a full size Socom one day. I keep my eyes open for them on the trade/sale forums.

MT's generally are great eye-candy, have fair ergonomics, sharp edges. I loved them until the M-UDT, after that model I changed to Spyders. At the time, I felt they were to expensive to really use -great collector items though, limited production since their models tend to last only a year(?)-.
Spydies have better ergos, prices, edges, userfriendly designs and pleasing fit and finish.
period.

Allen, I wish I had $334 to put toward a new Microtech, however the wife is partial to living indoors and paying the house note is her priority.
I have started getting interested in slip joints and have gotten one Case Trapper, a Queen Trapper and single blade hunter and a Schatt & Morgan Trapper. Brings back memories of my youth. Time before locking folders.

I love my MT LCC. Like Samo said one of the finest production folders out there. Wish I could afford more of them. Mine is a collector piece for me that never really gets used. I passed on a Socom a few years ago and kick my arse for it. Would have been a nice user. Take Care!!!
