Here's one of my favorites: the original, Golden-made C55 Bob Terzuola Starmate. I finally got around to taking a better picture, and here it is:

The C42 is a great design and I carry mine quite a bit. Very slim and carries very well.

I have an AUS-8 PE beater that is in my edc rotation and an AUS-8 and VG-10 (both PE) as spares and for dressier carry.

There were so many wonderful Spydercos with micarta handles in this time period:
The Goddards, the Calypsos, the C42 Viele, the C34 Jess Horn II, the Zowada, the Shabaria and the JD Smith.
Further honorable mentions:
Marcus my good friend every time you chime in on one of the "old school Spyder" threads you just drive me crazy with the exellent pictures you put up. That ZOWADA was just simply ahead of it's time. I snagged a couple of the CF Sprint Run models but I much prefer the Micarta models you have pictured. The ZOWADA model with a Micarta handle and a Supersteel blade would truly be a dream blade for me. Also if they ever bring back the C-60 Ayoob model with a Micarta or titanium handle with an M390 blade that would instantly be my grail folder.

The C-60 Ayoob has been said to be Spyderco's very best serrated folder ever by some of the hard core folks here on the forum and I'm here to testify that it is indeed an awesome blade in Spyderedge and plain edge both. The Zowada and Ayoob are both Hall Of Fame folders and have been in my personal top ten for years now>> and I don't look for them to be de-throned anytime soon either.

Well "RLR" I can't say with total honesty that ATS-55 is my favorite blade steel>> but I can say honestly that it is one of my very favorite in Spyderedge for sure. And I did really like many of the great classics from the ATS-55 era>> my dear first generation C-44 Dyad is a permanent keeper/user along with my two STainless Handled RESCUE models.

Models like the Peter Herbst ( Titanium & Aluminum) were both out of that era even though the Titanium model was made over in Germany with 440C and some of the later versions of the Herbst were made with VG-10 blade steel.

The G-10 Harpy is one stalwart classic out of the ATS-55 era as well as a few of the Mariner models that were made with ATS-55. It truly was a turning point era for Spyderco when they transititioned over to VG-10.

You have really put up a very interesting piece "Sonnemann" and that being the original "Renegade" model>>> I actually EDCed one of those for almost a year and if they would ever make one of those in one of the newer/better blade steels I would jump on it immediately.

The Renegade & Blackhawk ( small version of the Renegade) are probably the most overlooked Spyders ever>> and one of the most functional they ever made IMO>
