Aqua Salt now up for sale at Knifeworks!!

Aqua Salt is now available! Just a heads up. I'm heading to the states in a few weeks...I've spent too much on knives lately but I'm probably gonna have to bite the bullet and order one. Anyone else?

I've been waiting for this one. Thanks for the heads up! Honestly, I know with H1 I'm supposed to get serrated but I'd like to experience this edge hardening thing I've read about that is supposed to develop over time.
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390
Grail Paramilitary 2 M390 X 2! ACHIEVED!!

I will probably get one as well from my local B&M store in Toronto......when it finally gets here. :)
But it seems like they have not been getting any of the new knives that quickly from Spyderco.
They still haven't got the SE all black Pacific Salt or the all black SE Matriarch that I was interested in. :(
Warriors & Wonders have had both of these for a while now in BC ......so I'm not sure what is happening with the local store.

I'd hate to have to buy all three at once if they all arrive at the same time......especially after the Forum knife purchase.....which of course I couldn't turn down. That recent pic of Studey's really shows the maroon colour off well and I was beginning to regret not getting another :) .....until I remembered these 3 knives.

With the Knifeworks Exclusives (hopefully at least a yr away), the Phil Wilson Sprig, the Maxamet & LC200 Mule (that I thought was a past bombshell?), and the Ti ZDP Police in the works and the weak $CA .....things are going to get expensive here. Hopefully some of the unreleased ones that I've mentioned will drop late 2016....or early 2017 to ease the pain of the purchase price.
Estne Spyderco in toga, an solum tibi libet me videre?

This is one of my favorite Spydies. The knife begs to be held. Very comfortable in the hand. If I didn't already have 4, :o it would be a must buy. Great boat knives, dive knives, and still a good price. Can't wait for the Knifeworks exclusives. :spyder:

Nice. Knife budget is stretched to the limit right now, and awaiting some releases, but I'm going to have a hard time missing out on this run. I'll have to pick up a PE to go with my naked SE.

The Atlanitc Salt is just a not so pointy Pac Salt right?
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

I believe these are back in regular production and not a sprint? That confirmation would help me decide to hold off for a little bit given the sprints and exclusives in the near future.

I want one of these, primarily because of the very high esteem they seem to be held in around here. But I'm having a hard time justifying how I'd use one.

I criminally underuse my SE models (440V Millie, Salt Saver, and Salt DF2). I'm most interested in the SE Aqua Salt, because of how well H1 works serrated. And I don't use my Fixed Blades nearly enough (couple of mules, plus some Beckers). I definitely use my PE fixed blades (as well as folders) more than my serrated folders though. So maybe PE is better for me, but the improved performance of SE is very compelling.

Any help convincing me how much I need one would be great!

Is it good for general camp uses? (In this case, I think that excludes battoning.) Certainly the corrosion proof nature is a huge draw, relative to my other blades. And it's probably far more lightweight than my Beckers, and so better for backpacking. I don't fish, so that won't help, but do have a boat, although don't use knives much on it - it's a tournament ski boat.

See what I'm after? Any help?

And I'll second the question as to whether this is a sprint vs regular production.

Atlantic is based on the Rescue platform so it has a choil as well as the sheepfoot shape. Pacific is based on the Endura platform

Back on topic - SE Aqua Salt ordered. Capt'n, to help sway you in the right direction, mine has already been designated as my "truck knife" and will replace my Atlantic Salt in this role - I like the idea of the additional robustness of a fixed blade in my glove box (where size and weight are not as critical as say in my pocket). I looked at the Jumpmaster for a long time but waited for the Aqua Salt because I like a bit of belly in the blade and I think the Aqua may be a better all-rounder than a rescue knife would be.

Regular production.

The Aqua Salt is good for just about anything. Great ergonomics, well balanced in hand. Not too heavy. Rust proof so you can stash it and forget about it until you need it. I have it permanently strapped to my hiking pack and so it goes with me just about everywhere outdoors (except biking)... winter, summer, spring, fall... It gets snow and rain on it, but doesn't rust. It has been used for camping and food prep without worry for corrosion. Great all around knife and one of my favorite Spydercos.

Yes. The older discontinued models were shiny "steel". These have the blade coating. Personally, I would prefer them without the TiCN coating, but some people prefer it for anti-reflective applications (military), scratch resistance (H1 is prone to scratching), and visual appeal.

This thread needs some pics! I have the previous uncoated version.

It's the same (very handy) size as the Southfork. The Aqua Salt and SF goes along when I go hiking, camping or on holiday, they make a mean pair.
Image

It's a very stout all rounder. Here it is with a few other outdoorsy blades.

It works well enough for general food prep, and excels at some tasks like this:

If you need a dedicated serrated kitchen knife, I will say the K04 is a better choice (thinner, more flexible and FFG). But the Aqua Salt is a great all-rounder, good size, good sheath, good ergos, good weight, good price. I can recommend it to anyone who missed out on the first version. I will likely pass as funds are tight right now. I bought mine 4 years ago for $60 on closeout! :D
