Actually, I would like to do a run of a model in 52100, but I'd prefer to make it in Golden, so it will be a year or so.

Same here :) A triple hug in case of a Para2 :cool: UKPK is more western Europe dedicated.In East we don't care much about the stupid knife laws :D

Carbon steel, US made but UK friendly, sounds too good to be true.

52100 is a ball bearing steel. Most ball bearing steels make pretty decent blade steel. Especially where edges are concerned. It is my favorite steel to forge. It is hard to find in sheet. Actually, I would like to do a run of a model in 52100, but I'd prefer to make it in Golden, so it will be a year or so.

52100 is likely not trivial to get in knife stock, 50100-B or similar steels likely would be far easier.

Is 50100-B essentially 1095 cro-van (carbon v, 50-110B, 0170-6)? I still have trouble with all the different names sometimes.

It is one of the most common cutlery steels and has been called a large number of names by pretty much everyone who has used it. The thing to keep in mind that most of the basic production knives used basic production hardening and therefore what you can get from the steel isn't generally reflected in very inexpensive knives.

I would love a ukpk in this steel. I probably wouldn't buy a bigger knife like a para2 tho. Would prefer it in a smaller edc knife

My favorite Golden-made knives for this steel would be these, in this order:

1) D'Allara Drop Point, disco'ed w/FRN or upcoming new FFG form w/G-10! (Kill 2 birds w/one stone :D)
2) Regular weight G-10 Manix 2
3) Manix 2 XL
4) Millie
5) UKPK Leaf or DP G-10
6) Urban Leaf G-10

... but I'll take anything I can get :o
