I would suggest the Centofante 3. 2mm thick hollow ground vg-10. It is a slicing machine :D And it won't break the bank :D

This exactly, but given your desires I'd say CruWear for the Mililtary if you can find it over the S30V version (Which is still very good). For the PM2 I'd recommend the 204P PM2, and the Caly will be easiest to touch up and take the most screaming sharp edge in SuperBlue. The E4 and Stretch can also be found in SuperBlue with some searching. I'd say CruWear Millie is #1 though...a CruWear Manix might also be worth a look.

The suggestions already given are spectacular. All of those will serve you well. I'd recommend the Para 2. It's a super slicer.

If you want sub 3 inches, go with the Delica or the Persistence. Different steels and material on those two, and price ranges are a bit different but they both are very nice.

Good luck, let us know what you decide.

The Resilience is fantastic value for money . I don't use mine much , but when I do it always amazes me how good it is especially at food prep chores .
I love how the edge goes all the way to the handle giving you maximum cutting options .
And the steel is actually very good , easily touched up but it does hold a good working edge ( I'm a fan of ZDP 189 and now M4 on my GB , but in all honesty the Steel on the resilience is very good )
Here is a pic beside a SAK to give you some idea of size .

I'd vote miltary or if you can find one the sprint brown calypso. FFG Police 3 is pretty nice too and it would ride easy in the pocket because of how thin it is.

I got myself a paramilitary and a military, I orginally was planning on a s110v manix 2, however I decided I wanted something I could actually use and not have a break down if it was dulled. I have a feeling if I bought one of the few sprints still available i would be too afraid to use it. So I will get sprints as they come along for safe queens or light users.

Op, from what you mention, I have to suggest the endura 4 ffg. It will be a wonderful change of pace from the "tank". I would recommend vg-10 steel to anyone. A few weeks back I was using mine to clear some small saplings between trees for a hammock. I was able to bend them over and cut into the bend to dispatch them in a couple minutes ( 1.5" green trees) . Served me well the rest of the trip even though at one point I slipped and slammed the edge into a gravel bar, I actually stropped it on the side of a plastic cooler and regaining most of the sharpness. When I got home its was a breeze to go back to hair popping.

Also being summer the wardrobe gets lighter and so should your knife.

Another great option thats sure to not disappoint is the manix2 lightweight s110. Though the 110 is markedly harder to sharpen...

Police 3.

Anyone who hasn't suggested it, hasn't sliced with one.

VG10 has excellent properties for touch ups and rust resistance. The ZDP version, if it ever comes, will satisfy your super steel desires.

Spent almost all of my last deployment as my only knife without skipping a beat. Do yourself a favor and once I buy my two get one of the KW CTS 204P models when they come out.

On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

It's really amazing though to use this technique with a full Spyderedge such as a Pacific Salt or D'Allara Rescue (or I'm sure, an Endura SE). You can frequently lop them off with one slice :D ..... or maybe your Endura is sharp enough to do it in one slice without the serrations?

That sounds like a great idea, if there's any money left after I get the HAP40 Endura (& maybe Delica), Stretch 2, and KC natural G-10 M4 PM2 :( This is gonna be a tough year.

I've got a few SE edges, the Police 3 SE g10 is far and away the best of them, it has a thin FFG topped with SE. Sometimes I cut stuff with it and then just stare at the knife like " how did you just cut that!?!?"

I did not know the Police model came with G 10 scales. Been looking for a large Spyderco with a SE blade.

So thanks to Youtube I finally learned how to do the spydie middle finger flick and enjoy it very much.

How easy or hard is the Police and lockback Spydies in general to.flick?

In case you haven't already seen it, you might be interested in this http://www.sierratradingpost.com/spyder ... rFamily=99" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You can get 30% more off if you sign up for their email deal flyers. I like to use the middle finger flick too (in more ways than one ;) ) and I first saw it on youtube too. I've never handled a Police, so I can't say for them, but I'm guessing that they have a heavy enough blade that it would work pretty well. My SB and ZDP Enduras flick out real well with the middle finger flick, especially if I have them lubed (I like FrogLube CLP) and adjusted so the blade will drop from gravity when you press the lock. My Caly's (if adjusted and lubed) and R model (best of all) flick out real well too. I can't do it with my FRN stretch or Pacific Salt without some wrist action. I think I could loosen up the pivot a little on the Salt and it would work, but with the Stretch, I think the FRN drags on the tang a little for some reason. Some people have taken them apart and sanded off the inside of the FRN. I really have to thump the blade out with my brown Delica, and there's no way my Ti Dam Delica will flip out. And I can't do it with my G-10 D-fly :D

Only knife I have that is tougher to flick is the Ulize. Both doable but require finger strength and practice. The have large blades and pretty heavy close bias.

The G10 se police has been discontinued... Doug mentioned sierra trading post but knifecenter has them for 125 free shipping, that cant be beat and I'm starting to think the knife cant be either. Really worth the try a 125.oo

You're right -- I was thinking STP had free shipping. $12.95 shipping gets their price up to ~$131 after the 30% discount.

I went back and flicked a few knives again after I wrote the post above and have to say, with some of the backlocks it's not as consistent as with BBL's & comp locks. You have to think about it and have a little snap in your finger and maybe a little hand movement sometimes to make it work consistently.
