I'm trying to tell myself that the price tag is worth it. I probably will eventually, but we'll see how long it takes me.

I was a big proponent of this sprint during its formative discussion, so that's a yes for me. It will come down in price after a month or two. I'm not paying the amount that folks are asking for it now on its initial release. They should be available in the $160ish range soon enough. I can't see these flying off the shelves at current prices.

I'm getting one. I'm way too much of a Pingo fan to pass, and I figure the logo situation is easily rectified if it doesn't work for me in the flesh.

Do we have any idea when they're hitting the streets?

The one on the stock photo is the proto we handled at the meet I presume and it was blue with purple. A brand new one looks like blue. But I think the logo is blue and turn purple by grease of your hands :D

Nevermind. I just got notification that mine is inbound. If the shipping gods are favorable I might have it on Saturday.

I am quite intrigued by this one but suspect it will be available for at least a little bit so I can hear about how people like it first hand before having to make a decision.

I can't say much after owning it an entire 10 minutes, but first impressions are good. The logo a lot more subdued in person than in the stock photos we have been seeing. It color-shifts from a dark blue to a dark purple depending on how the light hits it. At some angles it's nearly black. I think it's nice...fits the character of the knife IMO. Overall fit and finish are the best I've seen out of Maniago. Tight, smooth, well-blended, no errant tool marks or anything like that. And the edge on this blade is absolutely superb. My ZDP D'fly is the only knife I own that can match it in out-of-the-box sharpness.

I'll carry and use this like all of my others so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks Brick! I just bought my first Pingo a few weeks ago and I do like it. The fit and finish were not the greatest. It has the unfortunate honor of being my first Spyderco with with an improperly cut spyder hole. Not a huge deal to me as it's not an expensive knife. Really I bought it to see if I liked the design in preparation for this sprint. I'm glad to hear the fit and finish are the best you've seen from Maniago. My PITS folder is very nice, so I know they're more than capable of producing great knives. From the photos I have seen I actually really like the bug logo, and probably more so now that I know it changes color. I didn't realize it could look all black, that's a nice touch. Now I just need to find one at the right price!

Thanks again for posting the pics! Feel free to add more if you're up to it ;)

I need to abscond with my wife's camera and get into some softer light. My little camera isn't the greatest.

One thing's for sure: this is going to attract scratches and fingerprints like nothing else. I think it's best I make my peace with that now. (And take better photos before that happens. ;) )
