What NON Spyderco folders do you carry?(Sometimes)

Post by DAYWALKER »

Aloha all...Just curious.

When I'm out in my backyard (forest area) I sometimes carry a Cold Steel tanto voyager,Cold Steel Gunsite, or, and this next one shouldn't count if you think about it, a Benchmade Eclipse(Ascent).

The locks are strong on the Cold Steel knives, and are tolerating much abuse(like an occasional throw into tree stumps) and besides, I'd rather lose one of them then any of my spyders.

The BM Eclipse is, well, like their version of a spyderco. I just like the coated blade and the opening "device".(Hmmmm, wonder why?)

Tried a CRKT Kasper, but this thing is heavy and pretty thick...not good clipped to surf shorts, and for some reason, possibly the bead blast on AUS-6, it rusts a little to quick for my liking. I did enjoy the feel of it though, and I still do, but I just don't carry it anymore due to it's weight.

Sometimes my friend's designs of Kershaw find their way into my pocket, Blackout, but the cops here are not sure of it's legality regarding it's way of opening so being an ACO, I tend not to carry it as often.

How 'bout the rest of you?

Well I've been known to let this one find it's way into my pocket on rare occasions...

Sometimes I carry a Victorinox Trailmaster M3 (one hand opener and closer through a linerlock). I want to buy a Benchmade one day, but first got to have more Spydies.

CRK Sebenza - but my EDC Spydies (PE/SE Standard) see a lot more work.

Edit: Oh, and when I'm camping/hiking, a Fallkniven F1

CRK Sebenza CPMS30V and blue leather inlays. Otherwise just Spyderco.

Paul - haven't seen that Beretta Jess Horn for a long, long while. Just as their Loveless models, these must have appreciated a lot over the years! Very, very nice knife. Be proud of it!

Clipits work!

For daily work carry, I have a Buck 110 on my belt that I use as my "loaner" if anyone needs a knife. (For my use, my Military CE rides in my pocket .)

In addition to the s I usually carry a Victorinox Soldier.

Once in a while, for real heavy duty use, a Greco flat-ground folding Falcon.

Always have some kind of leatherman (Micra, Pulse, or juice) with me.

Sometimes my CRKT M-16 for very light duty.
Al Mar Osprey for dressy non-conspicuous affairs.

And my Swamp Rat Camp Tramp FB for heavy camping duty and chopping in the back yard.

And just got a nice Klotzli G10- Wharncliffe style blade from Jurphaas as a gift (THANKS JUR!) that will get some carry time soon.

It changes, and I usually carry a spyder when I know I'm going to need a knife, but at the moment I have a leatherman micra on my carkeys, and as spyder alternatives: an auto MoD ladyhawk and an auto Al Mar Havanna. Other frequent alternates are an old Puma Rambler, a Pacific Cutlery Samson folder and I'm getting another Al Mar that I know will see a lot of pocket time.

Always have a Gerber Multi....
Have been known to carry a Delta Z Osprey or Skeleton but most often I carry a strange Victorinox that Vox gave me as a gift. The knife looks like it came from the days back when the Swiss were an Army of One. Single Wharncliffe blade, brass liners, brass pins and black FRN with the Victorinox logo. Am Extrema Ratio Nemesis keeps crying out to perform Alt.EDC duties so I may have to give it the EEO try soon.
