I can say that Mr. Schempp seems to love that sort of angle in some of his designs and I totally get it. The new Schempp Bowie is on my short list and it also employs that blade angle which in my opinion is terrific. Look at most of his Spyderco collabs and you see a similar angle. It works well in many situations.

I personally have often wondered about the Lava and actually think it would excel as a self defense knife due to both the ergos an the blade angle.

Just took this picture so I'll use it. It's my Worker sprint. Had it in pocket since the mail man brought it. :) I lowered the angle on the edge. It has approx. 7.2 dps now with a convex bevel so the apex is higher. I also have the SB D'fly on me. :D

If I post a pic of my EDC every day you will be seeing this knife every day for a while I think. :D I REALLY love this knife.

Yep, I love the Lava. Not necessarily as a self-defense blade... typically one of the last things on my mind daily (fortunate enough for me I guess).
I do kind of want a Kuhkri though, which I believe was a Schempp collab. :cool:

An old cordura pouch from a Gerber IIRC. Looking at these as a replacement...http://raineinc.com/catalog/product_inf ... ts_id=1997" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is off topic but 4-5 years ago I went through several belt pouches looking for a blend of quality and also good pricing. I was even eyeing some $75 form fitted leather pouches but never got one. Anyway of the cheaper cordura ones and others I tried SOG has the BEST quality pouches for the money. I mean the quality is great and the price is great. The price was (back then) $8-$10 for either the soft pouches or the leather ones. Both are great quality. Nothing fancy but the stitching is secure, the leather is nice. Anyway, if anyone is interested in belt pouches SOG had a nice selection of size in cordura (I think) or leather. The pouches come with some of their knives and multi-tools but if you call them you can get just the sheaths. My favorite one was one of the soft ones that hold different knives or my SOG multi-tool. I also liked the soft ones so I could take the knife out and strap on my tool belt without removing the pouch. The leather ones, if I did that were uncomfortable under my tool belt. That's it about that.

Now back to the regular scheduled probram. I have my worker sprint, D'fly SB and Michael Walker on me at the moment. :D

PS
This forum has a spellchecker which I love. But don't you think Spyderco's forum should at least accept "Spyderco" as a correctly spelled word? :D

I raise chickens but they are too hard photograph. Herding chickens and herding cats is kind of the same thing so here is a pic with my wooden chicken.
