Great addition to the flock there Mac! I love my black Southard and agree it's snappier than my original first release brown one. I definitely thought they should have used a coarse G10 scale on the black one, similar in texture to the brown, but that was easily remedied by dyeing my brown scale black with RIT dye. Found a coarse black G10 scale for my Domino too, and it really makes the knife.

That was before I was introduced to Steve Ketchen, and the last pic shows what he's done to make my beauties really shine! Cheers, Radioactive :)

Thanx Mick :)

farnorthdan wrote:Nice addition to the collection Paul, I have the brown version, it was one of my first grails and took me a long time to finally pull the trigger, great knife, perfect size and great steel. I carried mine for a while and still do from time to time. Mine is not the best flipper I have, that award goes to my BBS Domino, I think I need to take the southard apart and clean/polish.
Thanx Dan ;)
But, yeah man, I really loved my older Southard. Not a thing wrong with her. Just not as snappy as the newer ones. Still, a very fine knife.

Actually yes. All 3 cut pretty well to tell the truth.

R/S's posts should come with an age rating, that's just 50 shades of knife there, lol :)

Yeah, Radioactive, everytime you post your Domino with that black G10 it makes me stare closer. Looks so good in an understated kind of way.
Simple black G10, it works.
That C-tek is wild stuff though.
Going back to Caly.

Thanks for the nice comments guys! As I've said before, all credit goes to Steve Ketchen for transforming these beauties into what they are today. Now I'm thinking I might need another Southard! (Well, maybe "need" is a strong word ;)). Cheers, Radioactive :)

Steve's email is all over his BF thread so I assume it's OK to share it here again. He can be reached at sketchenscales@gmail.com. He's a real pleasure to work with, tell him I sent you ;)!

Not normally a fan of shiny handle scales but that's awesome looking with the DLC. I think I'd have to go with the wood over the honeycomb, but it's still awesome looking.
