I examine my blades often and when I pull the caly and the edge is patina'd like the bevel, it's time for some use! I don't use any oil on this one now.

I really liked the lightweight. BD-1 is actually a good steel to work with. Super rust resistant, takes a very fine edge, tough, edge holding like 8cr13mov. I'm sure I'll like BD-1, plus I don't have any yet and, at this point, I'm trying to sample a wide variety of things. I've got some 8cr13mov coming today -- a blue Persistence :)
