Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Catcherman somewhat in pocket for the last week.
I rounded off my summer vacation with a 5-day trip to the south-eastern coast. Going by train/public transport and passing through the most stringently enforced areas with regards to knife laws, I was more concerned about weight than practical pocket carry. The knife would stay in a pack most of the time anyways.
Bringing a fishing rod is a non-negotiable for any coastal destination and staying at a AirBnB with an unknown (and probably sub par) cutlery selection, the Catcherman kind of stood out as the perfect do-it-all for what I expected to need it for. Especially given that I wouldn't carry on body outside planned outdoor activities.
Until this trip I've only brought along the Catcherman as a dedicated filleting knife, but being forced to use it for everything was quite eye opening, and I have to agree with @vivi that this is a pretty solid allrounder. I need to push it into this type of use more often, and if I do it wouldn't surprise me if this knife makes it into my top 5 favorite Spyderco's at some point.
Sadly it was not featured on any pictures from my trip.

Glad it aerved you well. While it does have some short comings as a general purpose knife, I found mine pretty capable too.aicolainen wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 5:09 amCatcherman somewhat in pocket for the last week.

I just got back from a trip to the southeast coast of my country too. We didn't catch anything worth cooking, but we're slowly teaching ourselves a new skill. Someday.

Pocketed this guy on a whim today instead of my usual work knife. Can't recall the last time I carried a Chief. It was my favorite Spyderco folder for a bit, but I've come back around to preferring the Police & Military.
Forgot how well it carries. That's one thing it does better than the Military 2, even with the new tip up option from factory. So much edge in such a compact package. Very well engineered.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I just my 2 new (to me) Tenaciouses (sp?) in the mail. One satin, one black oxide. This Spyderco 8CR takes a stupid sharp edge very easily.
