I'll get a pic of the tree tomorrow, at its peak right now! Seems a bit early.SaltyCaribbeanDfly wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 6:16 pmReally? Barely seen any changing down here, just some scattered sourwoods and a maple here or there…oh and KILLER PHOTO!!!![]()
I agree Vivi, I think that's why I kept this particular Native Chief around...plus that thin, long blade of Rex45!

Because desolate places allow us to breathe. And most people don't even know they're out of breath.

It´s been a while, but today I am carrying my HAP40 Stretch 1 again, and so I was looking for old pics I might still have of that knife.
Came across this one from more than two years ago.
Took it back then also for sharing some history which I sometimes allow myself to do in this particular thread, hope in this case it might be interesting for some US members here.
What can be seen is a commemorative plaque for the 42nd US Infantry division, the "Rainbow division".
Salzburg as part of Austria was occupied by the Nazis and at the end of WW2 liberated by US troops.
The rainbow division actually did not really take part in the active fighting in Salzburg itself (as the plaque wrongly suggests), but came to replace the 101st Airborne Division as the occupying unit in Salzburg right after the end of WW2.
(They participated in European battles elsewhere though and liberated the concentration camp of Dachau).
They painted and left their "insignia" / "symbol" - the rainbow - on quite some places on their way through Europe, so also right in the city of Salzburg (see second pic).
(Should anyone happen to be interested in a bit more WW2 remains / postwar knife pics and history - here are some more links to related posts I made in the past:
