Manix on trail. Backstory: Wife and I hiked a new desert trail, of strenuousness that took us by surprise. Temp 96F, mid-day hike, and halfway into the hike (about 1 hour), wife ran dry. Trail was 45 degree ascent near crests of hills, taxing for us old folks. Glad I brought a spare half liter of water and Gatorade powder, which got her going again. (I tank before a desert hike, guzzle 1 liter, and then don't need water for 2 hrs., so the 1/2 Liter was 'just in case.') A reminder that when you're on a new trail...take a little extra. M4M went along for a pocket ride, though it did open the Gatorade package efficiently, when asked to do so. Such a sturdy, lightweight knife. Love it.

i regret that made blackwash (ferric chloride), it's not durable and rough like sandpaper, cuts worse

I'm going to claim this Atlantic Salt, too. I gave it to my friend Randall, a record-holding adventure sailor. Here he is, using it of all things to cut out a rotten egg. Currently he is sailing from SF to Homer, Alaska. His blog, if interested:

http://figure8voyage.com/blog/

I also sent him a Swick. I'm curious whether he will use it or not. He balked a little at the wharnie's sharp tip; apparently many sailors prefer a bluntish sheepfoot over a wharnie -- or at least he does. The concern I am told is stabbing one's self by accident on high seas when the sailor's whole world is a slippery whirl of movement.

But I know his Atlat Salt is on him at all times and gets used heavily.

Got a bit late on me but I took a pic of today's carry outside anyway.

Because desolate places allow us to breathe. And most people don't even know they're out of breath.

Working on/for a mountain hut again... except it's not entirely just about hard work... ;)
My knife? Goddard once more. Man, I'd love to have an ffg SE version of that thing...

When you get tired of this one, just let me know ;)
I don’t even mind some sun protection lotion on the scales :winking-tongue

You want my job up there, my friend?

Well, perhaps you´d like to think about that twice - here you can "watch" me doing another part of the work up there: Shovling out the septic tank (so literally shovling sh. ...) ... takes several showers afterwards before one feels (like smelling) sexy again... ;)

So glad you cropped that photo Gernot 😳🤣
:') ... but rest assured: Even if not cropped I would have stayed well within the forum rules: Was wearing prudish shorts of course ;) (I mean, I needed a waistband for carrying my Goddard iwb, right?)
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Next time I'm having a rough day, I'm going to tell myself it could be worse. I could be shoveling **** like Gernot. ;)

I'm just kidding, seeing beautiful landscape here and camping typically means you got a get a little dirty too. Worth it for the views.

Kapara with me today.
