Doing some running and light hiking this morning. I play soccer and at 42 I can no longer just show up and play. So... Doing what I hate and just running. For no reason, just running. Nothing is chasing me, just running.

Oh man I know what you mean. I don’t get how some people love running. I hate it lol. I’m 22 so it’s not very encouraging to hear that it gets harder as yo get older. 🤣

I agree, love me some worn in micarta. Looks so much better than that fuzzy/new look. Feels better too.

I always hated running too, but three things made it fun for me.

Finding the right shoes, the right trails and the right pace.

Shoes is a personal thing obviously, but my break through shoe was a pair of Salomon Speed Cross 5's. I had tried all sorts of shoes prior, from basketball shoes, skate shoes, padded running shoes from Altra, Merrel barefoot style shoes etc.

When I found the right pair of shoes running went from painful to kind of fun.

Then instead of running around the neighborhood or a local city park, I found seldom used hiking trails and stuck to those. I get in the groove easier when its just me and nature.

As far as pace goes, I was one of those people that tried to go all out and then felt bad that I gassed in a mile. When I learned real runners don't do that, that they pace themselves, I went from being able to only run a mile or so before feeling very gassed, to being able to run for half an hour without feeling like dying.

I don't think I'll ever enjoy running as much as cycling, kayaking and other forms of exercise, but I don't hate it either now.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

Looks like it's only available in PE, right now.
