Doing some work on my bike, did an oil change and some other random stuff, used the knife to cut open packages and cut up an oily old rag into smaller pieces. Not sure what it was but the knife was struggling a bit, to be fair it was quite the thick old towel but still; I’m considering trying out serrations. 🤔

I guarantee that Gernot will chime in on this post…when he wakes up 💤… I’m not the person to help you out here as I am just now getting into serrated knives but so far soooo good 👊

always carry a second knife with serrations for nasty jobs like that. my recommendation would be a pacific salt 2 in h1 (or h2). plenty of us are huge fans of this knife on this forum and for real good reason. the thicker spine and hollow grind make for a robust knife that you can force through harder cuts, which makes good sense for the type of cutting you'll do with a fully serrated blade. it's a great backup/emergency/sd knife you can tuck into your waistband and forget about until you need it. i really think every spydiefan that can legally own it should have at least one pacific salt.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

I should definitely get one.

What grit is that knife finished at? Maybe something on the coarse side would fare better?

Nice! We don't see this Smock around here, ever. If you're ever in the mood for CF/DLC combo, let me know. I've got my CF scales from mine just sitting around. I've always liked those BHQ color schemes though!

Probably would. It was sharpened by the previous owner; its a mirror polished edge that was scary sharp but didn’t have that ‘bitey’ feel.

Hahaha, thanks Dan! Yep, that's about all the knife usage I'm getting here recently. Thankfully we'll be getting into our landscaping projects again here soon, once it decides to stop raining EVERY DAY. I'll get a few of them out for that stuff.

i've been thinking about picking one of these up too. it reminds me of a smaller manix, which would be perfect for me for those times i need a knife 3" or less. how are you liking it?

I've been carrying that one in my 5th pocket for the past couple weeks. Mostly pairing it with an Endela, until I bent the clip on the Endela at work. Until I fix the Endela clip, I've been making due without a 'primary' folder, by leaning on my Chad Kelly Coop.

There is not much to dislike. The only thing someone may want is slightly more edge or less belly to the edge. Personally, I was looking for something in this size range since most of what I carry is larger. I really like the Caly designs in this size range. Some of Sal's best in my opinion. I could see carrying this one more than the Calys. It is more hand filling and no lock rock. I find the FRN on this one to be rather attractive too.
