I wish!!! Redfin Pike or Chain Pickerel is about it for us down here in Georgia…I would love to catch a Northern Pike on top water…all I caught this evening were “two scales and a tail” bank running bass and a few decent Bluegill but it was fun…I switched to a fluke once I realized there was too much unseen vegetation (water was a little murky…

Nice. Oh man there was this one time my buddy and I were fishing top water on a river diversion. There was this one pike about 2 feet away from me that bit my spinnerbait and I caught it! Gets the heart going!SaltyCaribbeanDfly wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 6:12 pmFoehammer wrote:Top water is about as exciting as it gets! Any pike in those waters?

Got in a few miles of hiking today. Temps were right around 40 with snow squalls, making for quite a damp time. MagnaCut Native was along, as well as my trusty Sebenza.

Found a really good deal on some used Flytanium cf scales. I gotta say, I’m really impressed. They’re quite nice.

Holy scales Batman…2 feet away and a Northern pike bites my spinner bait? That might get the heart stopping!!!… I’ve only seen em on fishing shows
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
A lot of guys up here hate ‘em but they’re fun, I love catching pike! Mean and vicious and just super aggressive apex predators. They’ll eat anything they can; baby ducks, frogs, and other pike!SaltyCaribbeanDfly wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 7:19 pmFoehammer wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 7:07 pmNice. Tasty too, if ya cook em right. But I’m mainly catch and release anyhow.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
my usual + an aqua salt.

forgot my knife roll so I rocked one of our dexter russell 12" slicers and used the aqua salt in place of my petty.
Obviously not as well suited to the task as a purpose built petty, but it handled well enough. sliced bread and tomatoes, used it to butterfly filets and slice ny strips, etc. was fun using it in a way I never had before.
I'm just glad I broke down a bunch of steaks yesterday after sharpening my work knives. Doing that with the house knives would have been awful.
