Hi Sal!

As I think about Military and Paramilitary first of all they are for SD for me. So I would like something impact peek on the butt end of the knife. Something like the glassbreaking peek, or somewhat else like it. And tip-up carry optional clip holes? Maybe...

Anyway, I personally love any :spyder: s, especially because you made real cornerstones in the knife industry. Oh, yes! And your company and I are same old...

The more I think about it, the more I'd like a Para variant with a Millie-sized handle. I just love the huge handles on my Millie but for the most part my cutting needs are easily met by a 3" Para-sized blade.

Mine developed some blade play with very little use. What use it saw was not hard, either. It is disappointing because it is my favorite design.

Send it back and get a reply that "some play is necessary for the lock to operate smoothly"

Now that I think of it, I would surely buy a Para/se if it has a liner lock ;)

pLEASE -- no liners - its supposed to be about a knife that is easy to maintain in the field...not the office.

I'd love to see this design offered in H1 ---I know that may sound crazy to some but I would love the no rust, no babying quality of the steel. I'm more than tired of the "ring of rust in the hole" CPMV30

love another color of G10: dark grey or blue/grey

My dream Spyderco: H1 folder with G-10, H1 or MICARTA scale. Time to lose the FRN only attitude with regard to H1

I thought I would bump this thread from 2006 as I am betting that Spyderco is still working on this and some of the newer folks may have not seen this thread.

An H1 blade (wish it could be ffg tho), H1 compression lock, Ti wire clip, same open G-10 handle design, mabe yellow, dark blue or orange.

This would be the ultimate small field folder!!!

lol, I luv the "wish list knife"... mabe add a cup holder, cigar cutter...LOL :D :D

McBain that sounds nice to me. I'd like to see the G10 colors continue being used. FG, Orange, Tan, Gray, Navy Blue etc. would all be nice.

I think a Caly 3 style clip fits the knife very well. I've been using my Para like this for a while and haven't looked back. 4 way mounting if you keep the old style clip, but I think the wire clip is superior in every aspect aside from working for tip down carry.

I would like to see a 2.5mm or 3mm blade but I doubt many others would like this change, so I won't hold my breath.

Haven't worked with H1 but I'd buy an H1 Para to try it out. I planned to buy a Salt this summer but got distracted by other Spydercos. I'd like to see the Para be used as a platform to try new steels out like the Military, since not everyone wants or can legally carry the larger blade.

I think a wider, deeper choil more along the lines of the UK Pen Knife would work better, especially considering the opening hole and rest of the handle are oversized to work well with gloves. The choil feels a bit on the small size to me without gloves on.

Anything that can be done to lighten the knife without sacrificing another aspect of the design should be done IMO.

Things I do not want changed: Thin tip, compression lock, nested liner construction (Maybe skeletonize them?), the "bad" blade to handle ratio, the current style jimping (Best jimping I have used from any company).
May you find peace in this life and the next.

how about the possibility to either use a wire clip or a standard clip?

so 3 holes and 2 grooves

that way you can change the clip depending on the occasion
(wire for urban use, standard for outdoor use)

see my attachment for an artists impression :)

Thats actually not that bad of an idea...

As for a change. I love it as is, but could maybe use a little more room in the choil and a shallower ramp on the butt end. Other than that, not much. OH a TAN G10 would be the deal breaker. That I would go for. I don't understand why Spyderco doesn't use tan/desert g10 in any of their knives. Might be too "tactical" looking but BLACK blade on Foliage Green or Tan G10 would sell like hot cakes if you ask me.

Some pieces with only drawn or stamped on Spyderhole signs or a very small Spyderhole like the Street Beat has  for Germany would be nice. They would be no one hand folders and thus could be carried here without restrictions. Please don´t discuss any one hand opening methods without Spyderhole. I can assure everyone, that I have no acrobatic skills to open any folder without opening device with only one hand. I have practiced with my dozens of :spyder: folders but I can´t help it. :D

Best wishes
JB
We need locking :spyder: folders, at least a D4, with very small :spyder:holes (no one-hand function, only trademark) for legal carry in Germany!

If I could only keep one of all my knives, it probably would be a D4.

Sal,

This is probably so far down the thread that it won't get read, but if it does, I have two requests:
  1. Give it a grown-up choil. The current choil is too small for an adult's forefinger.
  2. Ambidextrous clips. four-way, low-ride clips are nice, wire clips are even better, but , at the very least, please make it ambidextrous and include a mirror-image clip for the left side.
The only other thing that I could think of would be to beef up the "liner" for the compression lock so that it wouldn't develop vertical blade play.

The only two things I would change on the Para would be a low riding wire clip and a slightly smaller handle. Other than that, it's the perfect knife. Okay, maybe have a H1 blade since I mostly use this knife for fishing and camping.

First post here, I have 2 paras (one the green D-2) and a S90V millie. I agree about the tan. Pleanty of these knives are currently in use in the desert, tan is a logical choice. Could tan colored CF be done? That would be sweet.

I would love to see a S90V CF para.

+1 from me.

The compression lock is cool, though I would love a para with a ball lock to keep my dodo company
