Jeb's pix and mods
Re: Jeb's pix and mods
I tacked this up first on the general portion of the forum but I am going to copy and paste my post here to: This is a review of my Tomahawk and how well things are with it.
Here is a testimony at how good the coating holds up to some real abuse. This is my Spyderco Tomahawk and as you can imagine just how hacking away at limbs and brush the abuse is way worse than anything I could ever do to a knife.
So I have really used the hound out of this Tomahawk and its been way better at clearing things than I ever expected.
You can see on the close up views the coating is rubbing back on the blade at the points where it sinks into the limbs and branches as I hammer this beast. It's being polished off, not really scratching. Heck as time goes even the D2 steel will start to polish away.
It truly surprised me at how awesome it has been. Feels great in the hand too, least my paw lol. If not well weathered paws, might need handsocks if going to use it all day hard as I have. The scales really hold great, bite back if you will.
The scales on this thing are amazing. I have yet to get to use the holes in the Tomahawk for bending or breaking anything, but just from me hacking away for days around here, it will hold up I am certain of that...
You guys just think about this kind of abuse and the coating on this still doing great. Your not going to be able to really hammer away that hard on your pocket knife lol.
Edit: I forgot to mention, this thing throws extremely well, as its name might suggest lol. The edge on it is a little to fat to stick into the hardwoods around here, unless your throwing at an end cut, but if you have an end cut you pace off some 20' and throw this thing hard as you can, it will make you grin lol...

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
I have two new knives coming this next week, so I made two new lanyards for them. One has two Titanium spyders and the other has some new brass spyders.
Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Thanks Apollo, the brass spyders are a tick heavier than the Titanium, so I will be curious if the length of these I make for my bigger knives need to be changed.
Don't mind the color of the brass, with this particular color of paracord everything looks good. This has been the neatest color I ever just stumbled into... You get this paracord in my infrared torch light in a dark room, it's the weirdest colors all together on one rope...
I need to see if I can take a pic of that. That may be way out of my wheelhouse though lol...
Thanks for the comments.

Desert Camo paracord under the ultraviolet torch. It looks brownish, orange, black and blue. You click on the pic it helps my bad pic. It really pops out better.

Manix 2XL - With Sage Green Micarta scales and DLC S30V steel. Looks really good to my sore eyes in person. Really like this beast.
Still need to put the lanyard I have for it, on. Then hone it 15 dps and polish out the bevel. Work the latch spring over just a tick.
Here is a quick looksee...

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Yes, it feels amazing in the paw. Only one problem now... I want the yellow on black version and I really want that red on black... Texas Tech colors
I know they are PM models with the shorter blades, I just want them all as a set to show off the look and feel around here.
Just really think to have the Trio set up would really look great and be something I could show off around this part of the world.
Heck, not many around here even know the Spyderco brand, let alone the darn bug bite it gives you lol... If I could get the other two, I am going to need one more of these black on black ones too, as this one I got today is going to be a edc around here, the Trio would be just to show off and fly the Spyderco colors if you will.

Have some new for me brass spyders for my paracord lanyards I make, been using one this week on my newest Manix 2XL with the green Micarta scales and DLC S30V blade.
The look of the brass doesn't bother me and the tick more weight has not been an issue. The new Manix2XL and its scales is nothing short of a Razor in perfection... love these scales, the look and the feel in my paw.

Look great Jeb ! The red /black PM2 will be a challenge to find and price will be painful. I love love to see an exclusive from a dealer in a different color of the M2 for a set , that’s just me talking . Dan

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Yes, the M2 is my favorite of these. I have also come to love the DLC blades now. Never been a coating kind of guy before, but this new DLC seems to be a real keeper if you ask me.

#37 - Yojumbo - Jade G10 with DLC - M4 steel
Bought this used off ebay, has one scuff mark on the DLC right by the designers signature, and the knife was really dull. The M4 steel is amazing, really super steel jimo. Honed out 15dps and polishes great.
Really impressed with the look and feel of the design of the grip. The Jade G10 has rough small diamond pattern which feels really impressive in my paw... This is a big knife, and Jeb already loves it... Really could have used some jimping on the top edge of the spine for your thumb, least for me...
Just one problem for me with the knife, it has no lanyard hole or even room for me to drill one myself. That being the only drawback is not a deal breaker though...

Could you change to a Lynch clip and tie a lanyard through inside of clip ? DanJeb wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:11 am#37 - Yojumbo - Jade G10 with DLC - M4 steel

#38 - Military 2 - Sprint - Tan G10 scales with peel ply texture and CPM15V steel.
The knife is brand new from Nationalknives.com and is in perfect condition. The finish on this 15V blade is nothing short of awesome. Just really like this smooth finish.
The tan G10 scales have this killer peel ply texture that really is great in the paw. The Military 2 knife as a design is amazing, with 4" blade and compression lock, what's not to like...

Re: Jeb's pix and mods
Dan,
I think I can just make a lanyard with a much smaller loop and just slip it over the clip itself as is. I don't think it would ever get past this texture on the scales of this Yojumbo lol. That's my plan anyway...
Killer knife, never seen or held one of these designs before. Must say it feels good in the paw too. There is a very pronounced detent that holds the knife closed, with the loaded compression lock. Really impressive knife and was in good shape for an ebay purchase lol...

#39 - My first Spyderco Mule in Elmax steel with Spyderco black G10 scales and the Spyderco - Boltaron Sheath.
Like all my other Spyderco stuff, it never fails to impress me. From the Elmax Mule itself, this blade is awesome, with or without the scales on too...
Did have to file out two of the holes to get the threaded barrel bushings in the knife handle tang, one hole was fine but the other two was a no go. Not really a big deal but without a way to file those two holes out, you were not mounting the scales.
Then there are these Spyderco scales, really nice looking black G10 scales that just beg to be in your paw. Simply amazing look and feel. Fit was perfect profile to the handle tang of the blade.
I got the Spyderco Boltaron Sheath to keep this beast in, mainly wanted to see if the fit on it was like this sort of stuff I have for my pistols. Was not disappointed with it either.
The Mule fits perfectly in this Sheath and with a snap like snug fit. You can mount the belt clip any direction at 90 degree turns, in order to index the Mule how you need it. Really cool feature.
The belt clip/loop, except belts to just shy of 1.75"... my heavy nylon duty belts are 1.5" and 1.75" and the big ones won't go in this Sheath clip/loop. Bummer for sure but my little Munchkins of 1.5" fit fine.
Not sure what somebody was thinking when they made the clip/loop a meer, .05" to narrow for these 1.75" duty belts. This is a really inconvenience when everything else fits these bigger belts. It only missed by a hair too.
I may try to file out the clip/loop just enough to get it to fit the belt. Just not sure what I will do just yet, but something will be done. Maybe make one from 316L Stainless if nothing else. It's just so irritatingly close to a fit, but just not quite.
Anyway, here is a few pix of all these as I was putting it all together. Honed the Elmax out to spot on 15 dps then did a light polish on the bevels. The Elmax hones to a scary Razor and I look forward to seeing how it performs...

Looks great Jeb . Halpern , I believe makes the Mule handles , they have a variety of colors and possibly different textures. If you have an interest in a leather sheath shoot me a PM . Very curious how the Elmax performs for you , update sometime. Dan
