Unfortunately my role change at work happened a few weeks after getting this knife, so I didn't get a ton of the typical use I was getting. I did reprofile it, and Magnacut was extremely easy to work with and get a great edge.
Rick, you keep climbin the ladder and you'll never get to cut anything 😉
Or maybe, you'll do whatever ya want 😎
I meant to get something in Magnacut but, that darn Microtech popped up and I got it.
I'll eventually try some Magnacut one day

My 1st ever Microtech. Just realized they're based in North Carolina- my home state.
Anyways, it came very sharp. Nicely sharpened too. Ergos are great. Really locks into hand in all grips. They kydex sheath is the nicest I've had - I haven't had many, but it's very quiet on the draw.
This SOCOM Alpha has a really good balance to it as well. Blade length is I believe 5.37" of Bohler M390. OAL is a hair over 10"?
At any rate, just thought I would share this with yall. If your lookin for a great fixed blade, a do it all type blade, then give this SOCOM Alpha a serious look.

Dang Paul, that's one sweet knife!! I've never seen that before. Pretty cool and different, not what you think of when you think of Microtech. Let me know when you're ready to pair that with an OTF ;)

On the Narrows? It's VERY similar to the axis lock.

Beating on 1095 is pretty great. The handle upgrade made all the difference.

I don't see Montana Knife Company mentioned in the forum. This is the insane mirror-polished MagnaCut Speedgoat. 3.75 in. blade length, 2.4 mm thickness. Comes paracord wrapped, but I bought it for fishing so I'll probably shinkwrap it. 1.27 oz (!!!) as shown. $225.

I think trailing points are the most attractive blades. What is that one?
