Thinking of getting one of these.
Stop thinking, just do it! :D

One of the best Spydies ever... in built quality as well as in design and especially pure cutting performance..

"Bad" thing: After using the Chap your thick bladed small folders will feel like wedges to you...;)
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Omg i just had to use a boxcutter at work...to open boxes... Instead of a spyderco 🤢🤮
This is why man made Byrds and glove boxes. No excuses not to have a back-up in the car :D

What if one does get to work per bicycle and not per car? ;)

(I do most of the time... but then I think I never forgot my knife at home yet... :) )
My job headquarters is 50 miles from my house lol
Or keep a knife at work if you are able to. I have always had a locker at work. It has ibuprofen, allergy meds, a spare knife and lots and lots of snacks. I am always hungry. :)

There are several frn spydis im looking at. Does 88 bucks seem like a good deal for a wave Endela?

They need to make a full sized native with a compression lock.

Sorry, I am in Europe so I don´t really know about US prices.

I personally though would not recommend the wave (Emerson opener) Endela.

Unless you explicitly WANT the sabre grind in an additionally narrow blade (for extreme (I´d say unnecessary) robustness in blade and tip for example) it does not offer the otherwise great "sliciness" of the Endela blade, and the Wave can get in the way when stabbing/penetrating matter.
And: You can have the wave-function by just doing the zip tie mod.

I´d strongly recommend the Endela SE though. A perfect example for why in my eyes SE is superior over PE.

That's how the cages used to look on the older Manix's. Not sure when they switched to black.

And they say the clear ones were less sturdy and could potentially break when dropping the knife, right?!

I am strongly in the backlock camp, but if they do so, they could go all the way and make the "Native family" the line where each model can be had either in a comp.lock or backlock! (So Lil Native, Native 5, Shaman, Chief).

I figure there are people who don´t like the backlock too much and people who don´t like the comp.lock too much
But I guess very few don´t like BOTH, and so having a popular line where everybody could get happy concerning lock type would be nice! :)
I even started a poll on this once, see here: viewtopic.php?t=84760 (Interestingly, in this poll when asked if the Native family should only come in ONE locktype, the backlock clearly did get more votes than the comp.lock)

I like comp locks OK, but still mostly prefer the back lock. As for additions to the Native lineup, I would be most interested in a Native 3.5 back lock that is somewhere in the design language, thickness, bulk and build of the Native 5 and Native Chief. Linerless G10 and an FRN option (if so, preferably with a full steel backspacer) later would be great. I really like my two Shaman, but mostly carry lighter knives day to day.

A Native 3.5 linerless G10 Salt would be just awesome.

I like this idea! Something bigger than a Native, but a little smaller than the Shaman. I could get down with something like that.

Can't believe the Cowboys, Giants, Eagles all draft consecutively in the first rd tonight! Worries me because clearly you guys aren't in the market for a QB...though there are a couple WR's I wouldn't mind and you guys are pretty stocked on those. Still...I don't trust Jerry screwing us over one way or another!

Think I´ve said in another thread already that this is actually a great idea - Native 5 XL or Lil Chief would be great ;)
And as you say: As cool as the Shaman is, a lighter / thinner "Native" in its size is somehow missing in the line (though perhaps one of the (lighter) Shaman versions Sal hinted will be at least close to what you propose?)

I think this is one of the best PM2s ever produced, with OD green scales and DLCed S90V. Such a sleeper and glad that it did not sell out as fast during its drop, hoping that it reached many afi's hands as possible. DLT for the win always.

Image
I'd be all over a Military in that configuration. Hoping to hunt down a DLCM4 Military and dye the scales dark green.

BTW which Suunto is that? I was just browsing their line-up the other day, comparing specs to my pro-trek.

Funny you said that, vi - a fellow collector from my city's local knife club precisely said the same words to this photo yesterday when I posted it to our club's Facebook page :D

Image

My watch is a Suunto Core by the way. It has been my daily beater since I received it as a birthday gift last year from my S.O.

I think the altimeter on this is much more accurate compared to my old Pro-Trek watch, but it looks larger than it really is because of my rather small wrist relative to the rest of my arm lol.
