Not as much wildlife around here. Once in a blue moon, a family of raccoons comes through my yard. Also opossums and the occasional skunk.
Someone's white bunny has been on the loose for years, that has dug paths under the fences and travels between several people's yards, but I haven't seen it in awhile. It has disappeared for months at a time before, and miraculously reappeared again. But a neighbor who's also familiar with the rabbit recently found tufts of white fur in an area of her yard, so she thinks a hawk might have gotten it. I don't know; is a hawk large enough to kill a full-sized rabbit? I doubt it could carry it off. Maybe it was simply attacked by a hawk and went into another area, or into hiding. I was never really able to get a pic of the rabbit.

In SoCal, it's more likely a Coyote got it. They have adapted quite well to the SoCal lifestyle.

That is a very good possibility too . We have a large Coyote population around here . At dusk we hear them every night . I have two young buddies that harvested 68 Coyote last year by trap and shooting . I have only seen one in yard once at night in yard . I normally see Fox a couple times a year . Dan

I've heard there are some coyotes in our area, but I have never seen one. And I've been out before at all times of the day and night, including when I delivered papers as a kid, starting at 4:30 a.m. every day for 6 years. There's virtually no wild or open areas in my neighborhood. Also, I can't imagine a coyote getting into my neighbor's backyard to get the rabbit, unless it could somehow squeeze and work its way under her gate in the little pathway the rabbit had dug.
Then again, stranger things have occurred. If the rabbit really IS dead this time, a coyote is probably the strongest possibility. I can't imagine anything else, besides at least a medium-sized dog, that could have carried it off.

I have a theory that you need to adopt a cat after it has been abused. I had a couple of cats growing up. We had them since they were kittens. Devil's spawns I tell you they were. Since then as an adult I have had two cats both mistreated and we got them as rescues. One has passed and the last one only has 3 legs. They are the sweetest and very affectionate. Well accept to the dog that couldn't kill a fly. She tortures him because he doesn't stand up for himself.

Patch was a feral kitten we inherited from Joanna because he didn’t recognize her Chihuahuas as part of family . So he was exiled to the finished basement in solitary until we took him . His only abuse was when Kenzie was little she would dress him in doll clothes ! She was known to stuff him in her backpack to spend the night with us claiming innocently that he must of jumped in when she wasn’t looking !

If you have dishes and fountains set out for birds, pick them up, empty and clean them with bleach. You may be adding to birds with Bird Flu.

IDNR is asking not to use feeders and baths until May 31 . I haven’t seen any dead birds in my area . Hummingbirds are back as of yesterday and had a Grosbeak in yard last two days . Dan
