Wish they would bring these back. Saw they're re-releasing old models but missing out on the best.

I'd like to see Spyderco or Cold Steel bring this style of knife back. Really big but nice and lightweight.

The Catcherman is kind of there, but not as rugged and general purpose as the Voyager.

That said I'm all in on a new Recon XL when those release.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

I have a suspicion that we'll see a large lightweight model someday. They've come so far with their lightweight handle molds with how rigid they can make them with the inner rib structures. I really think they could make a Tatanka sized lightweight knife that has no liners but is still strong enough that the screws will fail before the handle breaks.

Carrying a blue label Chavez Redencion Street today. Hurt buying a Chinese knife but I’ve been looking at this model for the longest time and just love the way they look. The budget blue label with micarta scales and Elmax blade priced below $200 made it acceptable to me. It’s no CQC7 in terms of build but looks great and perfect detent. The tiny stop pin is really the only thing that bugs me.

I saw the recon xl is coming back. But I think this is peak cold steel. I might grab the recon though depending on price. I didn't have the funds when the catcherman was available I really wanted to add it to the rotation but I saw your review and didn't feel so bad about missing it. My hand fits pretty well on the xl voyager and it's not overly bulky like the new style voyagers. Not to mention the blade stock and hollow grind so it still cuts well. The ffg voyagers just don't instill confidence and they're way too tall in the pocket except the tanto. But that's still really bulky. I'd like to find an X2 voyager but those seem really rare and expensive.

I wish I had grabbed a tatanka when it was made but I just never did. I even saw one in person and almost paid full msrp. I would definitely jump on a larger frn spyderco. Frn tatanka would be interesting to see.

This one gets a lot of pocket time. I wish they'd make an OTF that is taller/wider so it could have better blade geometry, but until you actually need to cut thick rigid material this is a really excellent EDC.

Is that the new minimal blade play version David?

Oh I hope they bring that back. Basically a modern version of a traditional “clasp knife” pattern, like a Case Bulldog. That one was before my time but I missed a lot of good Cold Steel due to being too hyper-focused on specific brands and whatever YouTubers were pushing

Indeed. And it's not minimal, there's no play at all at least on this one. It can also be turned however tight you want it. I didn't think the OTF blade jiggle bothered me until I experienced one without it.

all you guys loving on the old voyagers, what's wrong with the new versions? i definitely prefer the looks of the new version. i've considered drilling opening holes in a few.

@abbazaba seeing your pic made me remember one of mine I took a few years ago, pretty close haha!! That's one I miss from time to time, especially knowing what they go for now just a couple years later.

Ha, pretty close! Full polish though ;)

Maybe just lazy lately, but I've been pretty content with only three knives in my rotation this winter. That L31 has barely left my pocket.

I'm giving the Civivi Vision FG a go, just to see if it's as good as the Internet says it is. So far I like it.

But I'm still carrying my go-to Para 3 because I know it will never let me down. And my Kizer mini fixed blade, I never leave home without it.
