The lock style isn't my favorite, but I still want to give it some usage to be sure. It worked very well on package duty.

I don’t love the CBBL either, but I got a deal on a Maxamet M2LW and decided to try it out. It’s a great work knife, even if I don’t like it as well as some other Spydercos. You may even come to love it.TimButterfield wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 7:29 amThe lock style isn't my favorite, but I still want to give it some usage to be sure. It worked very well on package duty.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I'm glad I gave it a try, but cannot imagine ever becoming fond of it. As you mention, I wanted to make sure I gave it a fair test just in case I liked it. I think, for me, the aspect I don't care for is the need to pinch between fingers while, at the same time, pressing towards the palm to release; just feels a bit awkward to me. If I try to use just the one side, my finger slips just a bit; doesn't have a good grip. It is a great knife, but would probably be an easy choice for me to gift to someone who may love it. I have some similar locks in other brands I also feel this way about, so it's not unique here. My favorites of the Spyderco are still the compression and back locks.kennethsime wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 8:53 amI don’t love the CBBL either, but I got a deal on a Maxamet M2LW and decided to try it out. Maybe after some time you'll get more used to it. All of my cbbl's can be activated with just a thumb pretty easily. One of my favorite locks. Maybe my hand size / grip has something to do with our different experiences, but it could just be yours needs to break in.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

As a multiple decade software developer, I would like to think my hands are at least fairly strong from typing all day every day. But, with my thumb, I can barely even move the lock. I definitely need to pinch the lock to get sufficient grip to move it. (I wear glove size L.) Perhaps the lock on mine is just much firmer than normal or, like you say, it may just take a long time to break in and loosen.vivi wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 11:19 amMaybe after some time you'll get more used to it. My 4V Manix XL had some pretty strong lock stick when I bought it but it's gotten smoother after some use. Hopefully yours works better for you after a few weeks. The Manix series is one of spydercos best.TimButterfield wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 11:48 amAs a multiple decade software developer, I would like to think my hands are at least fairly strong from typing all day every day. I agree with Vivi about the break in, it does get better with time and use.TimButterfield wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 11:48 amAs a multiple decade software developer, I would like to think my hands are at least fairly strong from typing all day every day.
