Post by utor »

Hej there,
a friend of mine bought this dragonfly (i think on amazon). Is this fake or real?
to me the frn seemed a bit weird and the missing bug made me suspicious.

Looks real to me.

H-1 knives don’t get a bug.

hard to say, unfortunately.

the yellow handled dragonfly II is one of the ones I have seen faked / fakes of for well over a decade now.

i don't know of any certain way to tell by a look, if one is real or not;
AND
i think it is a safe bet that - if we were to post such data - it would not take long for the people who make the fake ones, to incorporate that so we would then no longer be able to tell...
that is what has been done in the past, as I have said - unfortunately.

unless you are buying from one of the "approved sellers", it is a roll of the dice.

put the knife to use, and enjoy it...

Would you expect to be able to differentiate a fake Dragonfly from a real one if you had the piece in hand?

I couldn't with a high degree of certainty, but the experts at Spyderco could. Send it in and let them authenticate it.
