Fake-O-Rama on eBay

A place to list and reference all Spyderco counterfeits, clones, and replicas that are found. Anything that isn't a legitimate Spyderco fits in this area.

Greed and money get the best of both sides. The sellers see a quick way to make money selling fakes to suckers and the buyer's have a greed to obtain a good knife for next to nothing, These two are made for each other.

In many cases that is true, but I feel sorry for the honestly ignorant who think they are getting a genuine Spyderco (because that's what it's billed as) and don't know it shouldn't be that cheap.

Here's a new one to me: A "seki-city made VG-10 tusk", from someone with zero seller feedback and currently bid up to 207.50.

I reported that to eBay and contacted the seller as well. He asked how I could tell it was fake, so I gave him five of the most obvious flaws. He still says he doesn't think it's fake. I hope whatever moron buys it ends up getting their money back through PayPal and keeping the knife, too. What a putz.

That's always the same response I get. Makes me wonder why they even bother asking for examples.

One time, I asked a seller if the liners on the obviously fake Mamba he had listed were magnetic and after telling him that theyre not supposed to be, he proceeded to send me an essay about how it's a very expensive knife and Spyderco uses special magnetic titanium.

It sold for almost $600, if I remember correctly...

And Fakeman is back with yet another new seller name and three pages of the same old fakes.

Once again, new zero feedback account, three pages of fakes. Even the Cold Steel fakes again. And people still bid on these things.

Wishing the deaths of millions of people over copyright infringement seems harsh, to put it mildly.

Copyright infringement is putting a Byrd comet hole in the blade of something that doesn't resemble any actual Byrd knife. What this bozo is doing is peddling outright counterfeits, as in passing off copies as genuine articles. Like printing US 100 dollar bills at home and spending them. To me, that's pretty harsh.

And of course, he, she or it is back with a new user name and the same fakes.
