Fake Police models on eBay

#1

Post by yablanowitz »

Heads up, couple of new fakes listed. I reported them to eBay, but I thought I'd post here in case they don't get pulled.

Copy of a P3 listed as a P4, and that saber grind "VG-10" G-10 with 4-way clip again.

Thanks for posting the heads up

Based on other sites, I would say the Police is perhaps one of the most copied/counterfeited Spydercos out there. I'm not so sure it would be a stretch (no pun intended), to say that the majority of the Polices on 'the bay' are counterfeit/fake.

I keep a pretty close eye on them, watching for a variation I don't have in my collection, and I don't see that many counterfeits. There have been a lot over the years, though.

The same zero feedback seller in China has some others listed that are too close to call by pictures. I'm sure they are counterfeit, but there isn't anything showing in the pix that I can point to and say "this is the mark of a fake".

Update: it looks like everything got pulled, including the ones I didn't report. Hope it was before anyone got burned.

I reported a bunch as well, at Ebay & Etsy. Good to see we all are working as a team.

And it's back.

New seller name, zero feedback, same picture.

And again, same seller has SS counterfeits as well.

And all back again with a new zero feedback seller name, all reported again. I wish this guy would just give it up.

And he's back with a new account and the same old stuff for me to report. Poor fool has no idea how stubborn I am. This time he tried to beat the clock with one day auctions. Halfway through, no bids yet.

All ended with no bids, but the clock did run out before they were pulled this time.

Here's a new one, a "Spider knife" Police for $75. Looks like low res stock photos so you can't really tell, but it says 7 sold and that price sends up a red flag.
