Paramilitary 2: Authentic or Counterfeit (a lot of pics!)

A place to list and reference all Spyderco counterfeits, clones, and replicas that are found. Anything that isn't a legitimate Spyderco fits in this area.

Paramilitary 2: Authentic or Counterfeit (a lot of pics!)

Post by ALA »

Hello everybody,

I would like to ask for your help in checking the authenticity of a knife I recently purchased.

I strongly suspect that it is counterfeit but would like to double check.

Major reasons for concerns are:
  • The blade shape is slightly different from other Paramilitary 2 knives I own
  • The fonts used for "Spyderco CPM S30V" and "Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth" are inaccurate and different
  • "Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth" is written as "Golden.Colorado U.S.A.Earth" (dot and no spaces)
  • Logos are slightly different and not properly positioned
  • The handle is thicker
  • Clip can be attached only to one place as other holes do not even have a screw-thread
I attach bunch of pictures where suspect has light blue handle. Please let me know your opinion.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

That engraving definitely looks fake to me.

Looks fake to me, Thats a crappy reality especially with so many suspect online retailers. Amazon especially. People take advantage of their liberal return policy and return a fake one and unfortunately alot of those fakes are re-sold. Where did you get this one? Hopefully if you used a credit card you can dispute the charges. Sorry this happened to you, just such a scumbag thing for someone to do.

Take a close look at the Spyderco Bug. My personal opinion , the light blue handled knife is a knock-off.

Definitely fake. I have a fake Yojimbo that is the exact same shade of G-10, with very similar font for the markings. I bought mine knowing it was a fake, though, because I was trying to educate myself on how to spot them (I bought duplicates of several genuine knives I own, to go through them and look for the differences).

Thanks a lot, guys! I have couple of fake items as well. But I did not want to buy this one as known counterfeit.
I have bought it at eBay and, as I know, eBay is not supporting fake items selling. Let us see.

More comments are more than welcome...

Ebay should support you if you decide to return it. They have a money-back guarantee for that reason.
