Sage 5 fakes?

#1

Post by Carlito555 »

Anyone ever hear of sage 5 being counterfeit? Before I throw the company where I got it under the bus, got a new sage 5 yesterday, tried usual disassemble/lube/light buff on the washers etc. The only screw I could get loose was the off clip side pivot and instead of seeing red or blue thread lock, it was white. No matter what I tried, I could not get any of the other screws to budge. Tried two diff torx and hair dryer trick....I will see how they handle my email and an exchange as a knife that I can't disassemble to maintain and service is no good.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are fakes out there, haven't really heard of any but who knows. You might try boiled water, that's my go to for years now on stuck screws.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.
