UHC - Ultra High Carbon Steel Sprint run ???

Post by Stuman »

HI Guys,

Just seen some beutaful Sandvik Ultra High Carbon Steel, finnish made - knives and it got me thinking, wouldn’t it be great if Spyderco done a sprint run with this steel. I don’t belive in my humble short few years of collecting Spyderco’s I’ve seen any UHC steel knives. I was quite blown away when I saw one of the makers start carving on a piece of steel with no edge deformation or chipping and it still cut paper like it didn’t even know it was chewing on steel a few seconds ago and it was only after doing a little more research that I saw it was easily capable of attaining a Rockwell Of 64 to 66 HRC no less.

What do you guys think ? has Spyderco done a UHC knife before ? if not should they ? Because I’m unaware that they have, so I’m asking if any of you guys know of a model in UHC steel ?
