Did I buy a fake Civilian?

A place to list and reference all Spyderco counterfeits, clones, and replicas that are found. Anything that isn't a legitimate Spyderco fits in this area.

Did I buy a fake Civilian?

I just got this knife in off of eBay. I'm new to spyderco and bought it before learning of counterfeits. I have contacted the seller and he claims it is a real spyderco, but I'd like some expert eyes.

Yes, fake. Seki markings are stamped, not etched and the bug on the blade is wrong

It appears to be a fake based on several things: The rough wire edge on the serrations, the "bug" logo, the off-center pocket clip holes, and as Paul stated, the orange G-10 scales. I would return it as soon as possible for a refund.

Might be a good idea to send the vendors' details and photos of the knife etc to Spyderco's legal department before you send the knife back, hopefully they can stop future sales.

Undoubtedly a fake. Aside from all the other points mentioned (etched markings, scale color, etc.), Civilians should usually come in pouches instead of boxes as shown by this set of pictures. Of course if you happen to have a picture of that label we can even have more comparison with a legit Seki Spyderco. Anyways you do have the right to report the seller and get your hard-earned money back. Take your action in time.

I will be getting a refund to include shipping paid and return shipping. The seller is from Canada monte-benja , It seems like he was not aware that he was selling a fake.

I'm sorry, but anyone selling a knife with a $290 MSRP and a $175 "US street price" for $70 is either very naive, or they know **** well it's a fake.

A fake shouldn't really be returned.

Sorry man, as fake as they come. The box label would be interesting to see, just curious.

I didn't return the fake I got. It's illegal to ship a counterfeit item like that across state lines, not to mention countries like you plan to. Tell the seller you're surrendering it to Spydercos fraud dept and he's out of luck. I did this and got my money back and handed the fake to the SFO.
