My first thought is... The Smallfly2 is only going to dealers that have an account with TheKnifeDistributor.com (that could be a lot, IDK). The PITS are going to be available at every dealer that sells Spyderco Sprint Runs.
Second thought is... The PITS is probably a 1200 + run and the Smallfly2 quantity is a mystery. :grimace

I love the PITS more, I think, but this Smallfly is compelling. At least I know I'll get a good heads up when each drops thanks to you!

They are not familiar to me, have you dealt with them before?

I have not. But I wouldn't hesitate to order from them. They are on the Dealer Locator List. Their inventory comes and goes like it should. They are fairly active on social media. You can check out inside the store on Google Maps. Any reviews I've seen about them seem positive. Seems like a good place.

Why not? I went ahead and made an order from them. It's good to help the fellow little guys out.

I didn’t even know this version existed until yesterday and I ended up buying one. I like buying from a small shop and it looks like an interesting knife in a steel that I enjoy. It is also the first nice balisong that I have owned. Thank you Buddafucco!

EDIT: Why is the Smallfly a restricted model?

I got my shipping notice same day. I think it made it on the truck on Friday.

I believe butterfly knives are banned in many areas so Spyderco plays it safe and just treats them as restricted.

Thanks for the heads up on the dealer. Also, Spyderco should really hire you! You are a one person marketing department. :1stplace:

EDIT: Why is the Smallfly a restricted model?

This is a section from the Federal Switchblade Law... I believe it may apply to the Smallfly2. Allegedly:

§1241. Definitions
As used in this chapter—

(a) The term “interstate commerce” means commerce between any State, Territory, possession of the United States, or the District of Columbia, and any place outside thereof.

(b) The term “switchblade knife” means any knife having a blade which opens automatically—

(1) by hand pressure applied to a button or other device in the handle of the knife, or

(2) by operation of inertia, gravity, or both.

(Pub. L. 85–623, §1, Aug. 12, 1958, 72 Stat. 562.)
