Newbie pic request

#1

Post by OolongRasta »

Hi All! Newbie here, after never being into knifes, I’m at 4 spyderco’s in the last 90 days LOLs. My last purchase was M4 steel which I was unaware needed extra care particularly because I’m living coastal. My request is this: any pics on what M4 (patina, aged, seasoned rusted, etc) eventually will look like? THANKS :-)

Gayle Bradley 2 folder. The patina is from cutting up foliage. It isn't that worn in as I have other knives that I rotate for this role.

If you're not a fan of the patina or maintenance that comes with preventing it, you could always get it coated.
This is my GB with a cerakote (other coatings like DLC or TiCN are also an option).

WHERE?

This is the first time I hear for a possibility of this on a small scale.

I think REC does have a cerakote service. They can cerakote anything. REC = River's Edge Cutlery.
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

There are some local businesses in The Netherlands I know of, and several in the US.
I'm not too sure of Croatia, but search some companies via Google and just contact them.
Many of them will be aimed towards larger orders, but will still make an exception when asked.
Definitely worth the effort if you're looking for a high-wear resistant coating! ;)

Could you tell us where you did the coating, if it's not a problem?

Looking where to get a DLC or cerakote finish for a deep carry clip for my black blade Native, as the original from MXG has PVD coating, which starts wearing off pretty soon, and LynchNW does not even have clips for Native lightweight.

They're based in the Netherlands, but you can try contacting them (CERAKOTE Nederland) at info@cerakote.nl ;)
