Wow - looks cool.

Just as an information, how much would the engraving cost?

Reputed hand engravers are very expensive, up to $100 per hour of work, in my case due I'm not a reputed engraver (not yet :D) $10 per hour is a cheap price.

This piece took me to engrave over 20 hours, these are the steps:
1 - Search for the image in Internte, photos, etc ...
2 - Adapt the image with graphic software to the piece to be engraved
3 - Transefer the design to a practice plate to see what the engraving will look and evaluate the best options and technics.
4 - Transfer the design to the final piece and start the engraving process.

And when you are engraving metal the mistakes are not an option!

As you can see hand engraving it's an arduous task, but it compensates once you finish the piece.

If you are interested in hand engraving I can post photos of my small workshop so you can see the tools I use.
In my opnion every one who is interested in sharp metals is a potential hand engraver . The only issue is the prices of the equipment that are not so cheap.

Thank you very much,
Carlos

Excellent work on the Cricket and a fitting choice of subject matter for a Japanese knife. The shading on the flower surrounding the pivot is especially well done, it actually looks like the petals are raised above the surface.
