Official knife comparison pic thread!

#1

Post by Evil D »

Ok guys so here's the idea. There are always questions popping up in the General section about sizes of knives and how they compare to other models. If we can get enough people to participate in this thread, we can create our own little database of pics detailing how one knife looks next to another. This will help out those people who don't have a local knife shop to handle knives in person, and having the length numbers from the catalog don't always paint a clear picture.

So, people can either request comparisons and then someone who has both knives can chime in with a pic, or people can just post away whatever they like. I think it would be a good idea to set some guidelines on pic taking though;

1) We should have a straight down bird's eye shot of each knife laying flat on a table, maybe opened and closed
2) Maybe shots of the spines of each knife comparing handle and blade width?
3) It would be smart to line the knives up in the pic by the pivot pin as a general reference. This will make comparing size much easier.

Good idea? Yes? No? I guess we'll see based on participation :cool:

I think it's a great idea. Actually, it *should* also help increase knife purchasing too. :p

Actually what I had in mind was handle thickness, I guess I didn't type that out very clearly.

I think a lot of people who are looking for comparison pics are trying to decide between two knives in the same size range so here are my knives from the 3" class all lined up. I guess I don't follow directions well, they are lined up by plunge lines. :o I hope this helps. I will post another with my 3.5"-4" folders lined up in a little while.

To add some color to the collection of Ladybug, Manbug, Dragonfly 2, Delica, Endura photos. H1 Ladybug, Superblue Manbug, VG-10 and ZDP Dragonfly 2, VG-10 Delica, Hap40 Endura. These photos also show the difference in FRN oranges between the normal version and the Hap40 line. Image Image Image
