I went on my first serious hike yesterday and it may have been a little premature. It kinda kicked my butt...wait, my butt was fine but my knees felt like I just had a run in with Jeff Gillooly. :D
Anyway...I decided to hike to the Tatoosh Wilderness, a place that I had not been before. The trail starts in dense forest at an elevation of about 2300 ft. and rises steeply for about 3 miles. At this point you transition to subalpine terrain and then along Tatoosh Ridge.
My first pic features the Sage 4.
There was still quite a bit of snow on some portions of the trail. You can see some of it here looking back at the trail with Goat Rocks, Packwood Lake and Mt. Adams in the background. At this point I was at an elevation of about 5000 ft.
Here's a shot from the same location looking the opposite direction.
The trail goes through a small gap and then heads up the other side of the ridge. Here I got a glimpse of Mt. Rainier.
And then Mt. St. Helens.
The last part of this trail follows the ridge line to Tatoosh Peak.
Here's a shot further up the ridge looking toward the top. I decided to stop here (at about 6100 ft. elevation and 6.8 miles in) because I had already taken much longer than I expected and the snow covered trail did not look inviting.
Here's a couple of shots looking back down the ridge.
On my way down and back in the forest I stopped to cool off at Hinkle Tinkle Creek. The lighting wasn't good but I needed another knife pic.
Overall I did 11.5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of about 3800 ft. I hope you enjoyed the pics! :) :spyder:

A couple pictures from work.
I stopped in the middle of the road for this quick shot. I probably shouldn't, with all the traffic I could have caused an accident.
When I got to the end of the road this was parked at the trailhead. I guess they needed some PT with a view.

I finally had time for another hike. :)
Looking across the Green River valley at the Mt. Margaret Backcountry. Notice the new snow. We had temperatures in the 90s two weeks ago and now it's in the 50s in the valleys and snowing at the higher elevations.
Mt St. Helens with a fresh coat of snow.
Kiwi 4 came along for the hike.
So did my most recent acquisition, the Battlestation.
Battlstation with Mt. Adams.
This frog was hopping around in the huckleberries.
A hike wouldn't be complete without also getting a shot of Mt. Rainier.
A group shot.
On my way home, I had to stop so that I didn't hit this confused little spike that was standing in the road. He better figure things out before hunting season next month.

It's been a while since I posted but the clouds parted today and we had whopping 50 degree temps so I got out to search for eagles. I saw a few but didn't get any good pictures. It was a good day anyway. Enjoy! :) :spyder:

Can you see the eagle in this one?
