Wandering about in the woods
Re: Wandering about in the woods
Jesus, absolutely stunning and breath taking pictures in this thread. So much beauty in this country that most people will never see. My wife always wants to vacation in tropical areas, which are very nice in their own regard...but this...this is what I want. I could sit and stare in complete silence, for hours on end and be on cloud 9, in my own happy place. Thank you.

Always love your hiking pictures. I need to get my behind out soon and go on a proper hike. I’ve been doing a lot of exploring lately on the inlaws new property in Sedro -Woolley. Have a couple trails built down to the creek, now I am working on finding a little sluice box I can put down their. The creek that runs through the property is the only creek from Mt Baker that runs year round down the back side through Sedro. I heard the largest gold nugget in Skagit County history was found on this creek.

Wow, has it really been more than a year since I posted in this thread? Last friday I had a chance to wander at work so I thought I'd share.
We went on foot patrol in the William O. Douglas Wilderness. My longest hike of the season...
About 5 miles in we reached Kincaid Lake.
Let's see how thick that ice is...
Thick enough to bust a large rock into several pieces.
After 6 or 7 miles we had summitted Fryingpan Peak, about 2500 ft. above our starting elevation, and headed down toward Fryingpan Lake.
Lakeside...
Inspecting a cache of camping gear...
It was a beautiful day for a hike and we put in over 14 miles with a cumulative elevation gain of about 3500 feet when you count all of the ups and downs.
I hope you enjoyed the photos...oops, I just realized there are no knife photos.

It was a balmy 40 degrees (F) today with only light rain so I got my lazy behind back out in the woods for a short hike.
My hiking buddy this time was my trusty Para 3.

Wandering on 2 wheels today...
Made it to the snow park but there was too much snow to go any further.
Knife of the day was my most carried: Para 3.
With the snow melting off, there was a lot of water flowing over Iron Creek Falls.

Re: Wandering about in the woods
Many years ago my wife and I hiked many of those same trails when we lived in the area. It's so beautiful!
