Great pictures!

I spot Doug-fir, Madrone, Redwood, plenty of sword fern, possibly some sugar pine cones, and then the top photo with the native..I can't remember the name of that plant!

Keep em coming!

Yes, the Zowada I purchased from Mr. Schempp at the Oregon knife show. He had a table with a few spydies along with some custom work. He was very friendly and it was cool to have met him.

Sorry if you have mentioned it before, but what part of the NW are you in? Beautiful scenery, and of course, awesome knives!

GS, I'm in Washington State on the West side of the cascade mountains. I'm located just about in the middle of the three volcanoes: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. Pictures of Rainier and St. Helens should show up in this thread at some point. In the picture at Ryan Lake, where the geese are landing, you can see a lot of dead snags and logs. Those were in the blast zone of Mt. St Helens when it blew on May 18th, 1980, and were killed by the super heated blast of gas.

The silhouette shots are awesome! Amazing backdrop. But it also kinda reminds me of those two old cartoon crows sitting in a tree, haha. :D

Hello John,

I live in a small town surrounded by national forest. All of the photos were taken within an hours drive of my house and most of them were taken a lot closer than that. The last set of pictures with the silhouettes were taken about 12 miles from my house. The previous set that features my son were taken in Mt. Rainier National Park which is about a 35 minute drive from my house. I'm still waiting for some of the forest service roads to open so that I can get to some of the best views. Stay tuned. ;)

Cool fob on the Delica. Can you tell me the pattern, or point me to a tutorial?

Sorry Jazz, I was just messing around one day and came up with the design. I think that I combined a couple of patterns from somewhere on the internet, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember any of the details. :)

Thanks anyway. Looks cool. Nice scenery, by the way. Good backdrops for knives, in case you didn't notice.

Awesome pictures! I think my favorite so far was the Snap Its hanging with the pine cones...and anything with a mountain. I love your part of the country. I just went out today and the woods of CT are nowhere near as photogenic. :(

Today I wandered about above the forest. The hike is only 1.6 miles to the top but the elevation gain is about 1370 feet.

I can see the top!

Almost there.

Made it!

Brian brought refreshments. Yum!

The mountain views are spectacular.

Besides Mt. Rainier, you can also see...

Mt. Adams

and Mt. St. Helens.
