Just put an edge on the Caly 3 SB.

Image
I think that caly looks great nice and worn.
Thanks. I like the caly. It sees lots of pocket time.

Wow! What steel is that Knife? Have you done this to other steel(s) and also how does this particular Cola forced patina wear under use? Looks very good by the way. Thanks.

Thank you. I am curious to know if patina's forced with different materials have differing wear characteristics? I will for the moment assume that the more aggressive (deeper etch) the material used to force the patina the longer wearing/lasting the resulting patina will be? Is that a fair assumption? Thank you.

I finally have a "before" picture! Not too shabby for 2018. Looking forward to posting some "afters" in the future.

I am kind of cross pollinating here.
This is my latest Mule team that I did.
The Patina was a lot of experimenting and honestly at one point I was ready to pitch it.
But I kept experimenting until I got something I liked.
I started with Grapefruit cut into tiny squares.
When that was too light, I tried doing it a couple more times with increasing setting time.
Then I went to Mustard and Ketchup.
And finally went to the Vinegar splattered onto the blade in little drops.
This is all on a PMA11 steel which proved a little surprisingly hard to do a forced patina on.
Not nearly as bad as D2 but still harder than I thought.
I can say that calling it a dozen layers of patina would not be an exageration.

Terry, that’s exceptional. Looks like your knife was cut from a meteorite!

Thanks Woodpuppy,
Like I said this one is the guinney pig so having it come out in the end was a pleasant experience.
I have to say I was inspired by other members on here like 91bravo and Newtons amongst many others, there are some extraordinary blades on here.

I will post a couple more pictures of the blade in detail soon as I had not repolished the edge and the pictures were a little soft when I took the close ups.
