Re: Show Your Patina!
Has anyone else notice that when exposed to acids the spyder loses its color? I eat a lot of grapefruits and both my Hap40 Endura and this Hap40 Delica have had the black removed from the spyder.
Re: Show Your Patina!
It's the HAP40 kiss cool effect :D

Looking at the Spyderco logo on your GB2 on my phone, it looks like it has watch hands, and it's about 3 o'clock. :D

Re: Show Your Patina!
Sorry for the non spydie, but if 52100 is similar to 1095, this is what you can expect from a 5min vinegar-soaked paper towel wrap.Evil D wrote:Bumpin this, getting excited about this 52100 Military. Can't wait.

Re: Show Your Patina!
There are some examples on the web if you google "52100 patina". Seems to take a similar patina to Superblue and other carbon steels. The corrosion resistance will be influenced by the heat treatment. My guess is the harder it is run, the lower the corrosion resistance will be (not that it has much to start with), and the "better" the patina.

I thought I've already posted this a number of times, but yes, 52100 will patina similar to 1095.
This is from regular use. Not forced.
Aaaaaaand, forced, just for fun.

I own 1095 and it take nice patina :)
Sorry SpeedHoles, I remember I saw this pic, the 1st one, but didn't see much the patina, it's light compare to the patina on the ESEE.SpeedHoles wrote:Nasgul wrote:52100 steel got now my interest !

May be the heat treatment like Brock O Lee said, was different.
Anyway, I will look to get more informations on this steel ! :)
