Both my photography and sharpening skills could use a great deal of improvement, but I made a thread in the off-topic section with pics of some cheaper paring knives I sharpened (mostly) freehand on a 600-grit diamond eze lap stone. Here's the thread, if you're interested.

someone feel free to correct me, but I'm pretty sure steel will not compress in any way... so something else happened to your edge, most likely rolling.

I felt no burr, unless It rolled and broke off. I was using about 20 kg force or more to cut the strap then held back. Enough to screw up the edge anyway.

This edge does not like getting it's picture taken. I took probably like 15 pictures and this is the best one. Oh well.

Steel will compress. That being said, it would have been nice to have a microscopic image of the edge to tell what actually happened.

It has taken a long while and some trail and error but I've learned a great deal from this thread.
I just spent almost two and a half hours with my CTS-XHP Mule on my Lansky diamond set. With the Sapphire and Ultra Fine stones, I've been able to put some really nice polishes on my Spydercos. With my Mule, I really took some time. After everything was said and done, I took a long look at the edge under some good light and noticed one edge side still had some deep scratches from the reprofile. Despite this I still had a lot of fun taking the time to put a solid polish on this blade and am very happy with the end result. Once my ZDP-189 Dfly comes in, I'm going to do the same but hopefully with "postable" results.
Thanks to everyone who took the time and effort to post there results here!

GB's always look nice when the bevel matches the liners.
