Thanks Jazz, you know you are responsible for the original idea on your SS delica, remember?

I had search on my computer, but found a few pics how the green one is in actual status  I really love this knife.
I left the backside smooth (long live your jeans :D ) and on the other picture the added (subtle) dent in the handle for easier access...

Enjoy,
T.

I find that the bend in the clip gives you a little grip on that side. The GB is lacking some good curves to provide grip with no texture.

This is my stonewashed Urban. Not to bad for first try. Got the process off the USN forum. For my special rocks I used some crused granite out of my walkway beside the house. My tumbler was a pb jar and that will wear your arm out. Ferric acid was purchased at Radio Shack.

Looks pretty nice. How big were the pieces of granite?

That is VERY cool, would you mind going more in depth about how to do the stonewash part or PM me the info? I'd really like to do something like that on a few of my knives.

The pieces of granite where about thumb size and it only takes a hand full to do the job. Any rocks will do.

Here is the process and it is very simple and works well. Remove blade and other parts that make up the knife.

I got the Ferric chloride solution at Radio Shack, they call it PCB Etchant Solution. It comes in a pint bottle. It is used to etch PC boards. I paid $ 11 plus some change inc. state tax.

Put about a quarter inch of the solution in a plastic or glass bowl and soak parts. They will turn black in about 1 hr. or less. After they turn remove the parts and put in the jar with the lid. Add some liquid dishwashing soap, a little water and the rocks. Close lid and shake the jar. The harder you shake the better. After getting the desired finish remove and wash with water and dry. Then you are ready to put the knife back together and reshapen the blade.
If you don't get the desired results repeat the process again. A water rinse stop the chemical etching process.

Check out the USN Forum section Pimp my knife, Poor man's stone wash. Good pictures and instruction that I followed.

Do be careful with this stuff, don't get it on you and don't drink it. Follow directions on the bottle and you will be ok.

I searched on google for cheap pcb etching and some guy had a formula for mixing something you can get at home depot for cheap and peroxide. I wonder how good that stuff would work.

Bart, how good does the wave open work on the ladybug? I can't see it working very well.

I used some ferric acid to etch the blade on my Manix 2 to darken it and then shook it some more. Had to resharpen it all again but I think it looks better.

Is it gritty with that new finish with the ferric acid?

@ donut 100% correct it doesent open getting it out of the pocket the reason for me is that the spydy-hole on the ladybug and the grashopper are to small for one-hand opening and that works just fine with the small mod . greeetzzzzz

I got both of these off of Ebay for a song. The bottom one was the rougher of the two condition wise so I decided to give it a more wharncliffe style blade shape.

It's not so much gritty, but not as smooth a polished blade either.

I just did a ferric acid etch and stone wash(same way as above) on the clip of my para 2, and now it just blends into my jeans. I like that its not as obvious now but its also not just plain black :)

Have been smoothing and polishing g10b more than I used too. Here are two para's, one sold, and the other was shot over by a forum member I owed a favor too. Pic of a blue Endura to match the Delica a few posts up.

The polished G-10 looks pretty nice. I stared at that Endura for about 20 seconds trying to figure out what you did to a Police. I finally noticed there was no swedge.

It looks nice.
