Thanks, I do it with stacked cut off disks and a rotary too. You can buy thin ones and stack them with used disks to vary the spacing and thickness.

Clever. Thank you for that tip. I really like it when knifesmiths reveal how they did it.

Just finished these Para 2 faux bolster scales... first ones in blue. I've done orange and toxic green previously. Sorry that I don't have a Para 2 on hand to put these on for glamour shots.

Beautiful mod. This is what the original GB should have looked like from the start.

Beautiful mod. This is what the original GB should have looked like from the start.

I did like it the way it came but the extra material seemed unnecessary and added a lot of extra weight, (I wish I had a little scale to find out just how much) it's so much lighter now, and sits better in pocket. It feels really no different in hand. Well that was the case until I made the wooden scales flush with the liners, and they are a bit thicker, but still so much lighter and still better in pocket. I keep thinking I should pick up another while I still can and do it again, maybe in micarta this time...

A lot of people ask how to etch, this is what I use:
IMG_20160121_104811.jpg
In my experience the ferric chloride give a dull grey finish, while the gun blue darkens a bit, usually adding a blue tint but seems to retain most of the shine the metal has. For a really dark finish using both does the trick.
Picked the gun blue up at Canadian Tire, ferric chloride at a local electronics supply store, (Active electronics if I recall).

Does anyone know if there are Sage back spacers that are not glow in the dark. I have searched high and low to no avail. Thanks
