Ontario Rat II. Sad, but it's too small for my EDC. :(

Bought this a while ago and i finally picked it up from the mail box. Very impressed with it and don't see it leaving my hoard. Guess this is more encouragement to sell my NIB SB Stretch

Very nice choice. This is one of the few spydies that never leaves my EDC rotation. On my keys 24/7/365

Absolutely superb...just got back from camping (No pics unfortunately as I kept my phone off the whole time), but it was great for both food prep and for preparing the campfire etc. The handle is also one of the most comfortable I've ever held. Stuart Ackerman hit one out of the park with this design.

Des Horn just came in today. I was on the fence between this and the Kiwi 4 for a bit. Went with Des because it had more aesthetic appeal and style to me. Something about way the blade spine is cut ahead of the Spyerhole and those grooves give it a look like the Concorde or a fighter jet to me. It seems to have speed and forward motion just sitting there.

~ Really like the fully nested liners and lock. Nice crisp engagement and easy release.

Image

~ Nice low carry and it doesn't print like a knife in the pocket.

Image

~ The usual factory edge. :D

Continued from above

~ Compared to my other daily carry Spyders, neither of which are anything resembling large or bulky knives, the Des Horn stands out for its thin profile.

I'd read a lot about the thin tip on the Des Horn. But when I had it alongside the UKPK and Native the Des tip looks to be right in the same neighborhood. The deep swedge on the Native makes for a really thin tip when you take a close look but there's more overall beef to the blade. I would say it's the combination of the thinness and the minimal height of the blade at the tip that would make you feel the Des was especially delicate. As long as one keeps reasonable limitations in mind I don't think you need to worry too much about breakage.

Des tip compared to the Native (1st pic below) and UKPK (2nd pic below). Des on the left in both pictures.

Overall I'm quite pleased at first blush.
