Spyderco Stainless Steel Handles

#824

Post by Mr Blonde »

A few of my favorite Spyderco folders with good ol' stainless steel handles. I still think they have a worthwhile role in everyday carry.

All stainless (as in stainless handle and stainless blade :) ) knives are things of understated beauty IMO.

I agree Larry. The craftsmanship that goes into shaping metal is an art. I have a friend that's edc'd a Police just like that for 20 years. I love the heft of it

Hmmm... How do you keep the scales so flawless if you carry the knives?

The lighting helps to 'camouflage' scratches a lot, but I also carry IWB, so I don't usually get scratches from keys or coins in a pocket. Also, the stainless surface an be fixed up if you like with some gentle sanding and polishing.

Had to google the meaning of IWB, but found it. Thanks. That makes sense. :)

Ah the days when the U.S.A. were not yet on planet Earth... :D

j/k. What a simple but great design. I envy you and pity myself that I'm not a spyder nut for that long...

I kind of liked that detail as well!

Don't pity too much, sooner or later someone wants to liquidate their old collection!

Spyderco Amsterdam Meet Prototype Pictures

#837

Post by Mr Blonde »

We all know the Amsterdam Meet got canceled, but I did take some prototype pictures...to test my mobile photo studio. I only use it once a year for the meet, so I set it up at home first for a few test runs to see if everything works. These are the result of that test. I guess in a way these qualify as 'prototype pictures' ;).

Spyderco FB05 Temperance

#839

Post by Mr Blonde »

I recently found some old video from a few years ago, of my Spyderco FB05 Temperance. This is truly a classic Spyderco fixed blade design. I edited the clips together and decided to dig out my Temperance for another round of carry and use during this lockdown.

Very nice! I wish they'd re-run the temperance 2. Nearly $400 on eBay right now.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
