Now that I’ve finally learned how to sharpen SE, I’m much happier with it. But I also want to try a PE H1 for an opposite end of the spectrum steel (as compared to my usual preferences like M4!).

I think you would like it .After doing the 30 day challenge, I realized what a great knife for everyday use . Dan

Go thin and coarse with PE H1 and I promise the edge holding will surprise you. It will outcut steels like S30V and M4 with a polished edge in terms of pure edge retention. I'd try 200-400 grit for the finish and strop it a bit to refine the apex, or do one stroke per side on the fine sharpmaker rods.
